According to a recent report from Aberdeen Group,  “The Case for Virtualizing your SAP Deployment”, only 31% of enterprises using SAP have virtualized their SAP deployments.  Although they recognize the benefits of moving to the cloud (flexibility, collaboration, cost control, faster/global access to information, etc.), many organizations are taking a conservative approach due to the critical nature of their enterprise applications. 

 

There are many ways to move from traditional IT to cloud -- sourcing options can include private, managed, public cloud, and ultimately, HP’s Converged Cloud.  Many customers will determine that a combination of cloud options, or a hybrid cloud, is right for them.  The path to hybrid delivery will be a journey based on an organization’s objectives, maturity, risk profile and other factors.  These journeys may or may not be linear (i.e. traditional to private to public)…but move back and forth between the various deployment models as business needs dictate.
