Big Data? Discover the BIG Opportunities!

Recently HP commissioned a study of senior business executives in today’s Big Data era and found that…

  • 1 in 2 leaders say the lack an effective information strategy

  • 2% say they can deliver the right information at the right time to support the right business outcome

  • 1/3 admit that more than 50% of their information is unconnected, undiscovered and unused

  • Most organizations make decisions based on their structured data only that is just 15% of the picture.

The ability to extract real value from information is the new currency of business and government—but only if you can manage and exploit its massive volume, velocity and variety of “Big Data.” No matter the source, you must convert it into intelligence—practical facts and figures that you can apply strategically across your IT ecosystem.

Easier said the done, right? The above statistics prove this….despite all that information, most organizations lack a 360 view of what is happening with their business—supply chains, partners, social media channels, and the world around them.

So, is “BIG DATA” a big problem or a BIG opportunity?

Well, consider this…by the numbers; those who have an effective information strategy outperform their peers by 30%.  Sounds like a BIG OPPORTUNITYwaiting to be discovered if you ask me!

Lars Wriedt, Big Data Analytics Lead, HP EMEA, agrees.

Listen as he explains why the time is NOW to extract 100% of your information from your big data.

So how do you do it? How do you unleash the power of your information?

At this year’s HP Discover, Lars and Brian Ng, Strategy Lead, HP Information Management & Analytics, will discuss how to convert your big data into big opportunities.  During their session you’ll learn how to harness 100% of your data and connect intelligence to execute real-time analytics, engage constituents in context and optimize organizational performance.

Join us for “Big Data. Big Opportunities” (Session IDBB2907) at HP Discover Dec 4-6 in Frankfurt.

HP Discover is the showcase technology event for business and IT professionals. Access the session catalog to learn more about the sessions and register to attend.

Jill and Lars, In the context of this post, I really found an article by Harvard Business Review blogger, Thomas C Redman very interesting where he introduces a term called "Informationlization".  I have expanded on this concept in this post: Informationalize your data while transforming your applications.
