Transform your business - Transform your apps

By Daniel Amor, EMEA Lead for Application Modernisation, Hewlett Packard Company

Applications have become a major contributor to the success of many businesses. And many businesses need to transform the way they interact with their customers, partners and employees. So start with looking at the applications supporting your processes.

Day 3 at HP discover provides a lot of input on making sure that the business application tranformation is done smoothly with risk mitigation in place and great benefits. The following sessions are providing support on these topics:

  • At 9:15 Sean O'Leary and Brian McQuillan will talk about extracting value from traditional applications and how to use that value in the future (DT3024, Theatre 3)
  • At 10:30 Frank Wood and Bruce Randall will show you to measure cost and value of the existing application portfolio and on how to improve the cost/value balance of applications (DT2125, Theatre 3)
  • At 11:15 Tom Hall and Luc Vogeleer will close the morning sessions with a presentation on Application transformation in preparation for cloud (DT2883, Theatre 3)

20130612_105859.jpgIn the afternoon Maryanne Fashan and Roger Hawkins will talk about the collision that is coming to many IT organisation: SoE/SoR, Cloud Mobility, Big Data meet Traditional Application Development, Test & Management. How do we get that organised in a future IT organisation and which parts do we as IT do ourselves?

There is one additional topic, I'd like to talk about this morning. Yesterday there was a press conference where HP presented the latest products and services in the cloud environment. I just want to introduce one service set here, which is based on the concept of a unified Cloud Professional Services Organisation. 7 sets of services have been defined in 3 areas: Advise, Transform and Manage. More details on this new service set can be found at the Converged Professional Service Site. One of the 7 service sets is called HP Application Transformation to Cloud Services, which has been enhanced to deliver the tools and methods designed to support the entire applications life cycle. Automated discovery of applications and data is now integrated with the automated provisioning and deployment platform. This supports simplified and accelerated identification of IT assets.

HP Application Transformation to Cloud Services also are integrated with full systems life cycle support, including portfolio management, defect resolution and operations support. The addition of cloud security and data management processes and tools are designed to address the risks of cloud deployment.

So expect more exciting news coming out today on the third day of HP Discover in Las Vegas.
