A bright future - consider joining me!

Earlier this week I had a blog post talking about the HP Industry Analyst Summit.  The next day, David Scott, SVP and GM of HP Storage presented in a breakout session.  I know what his presentation covered and we'll be hitting many of those topics here in the next several months.  Topics that you'll hear more about and that David discussed were:

  • Converged Storage - this of course is our strategy and I've already talked about it here.  We believe this new approach to storage will remove boundaries between storage silos and bring storage closer to the applications you run.  Over the coming year, you'll get more clarity about HP Converged Storage with announcements that will make our direction much more clear to you. If you didn't read StorageMojo Robin Harris' blog post on his thoughts, I highly recommend you check it out.
  • Storage for software defined data centers - the terms "software defined datacenter" and "software defined storage" are getting a lot of hype and have their own definition depending on the vendor giving their spin.  You see more from HP talking about open standards-based hardware with rich data services and open API-based management control and orchestration.
  • Flash and SSD will be a big theme you'll here more about.  Crawford Del Prete, Executive VP at IDC tweeted, "HP's David Scott makes compelling case for all flash storage architecture on 3PAR over time."  You can expect to hear more about that here on ATSB.
  • Information retention and cloud storage is the last big theme I'll highlight here.  I'm really excited about the possibilities with HP StoreAll Storage and there's a lot happening in that space that you'll hear more about this year.

I told you how excited I am about the future in my last HP Summit blog post and I really am.  We have an unbelievable management team, support from Meg Whitman, and management like Dave Donatelli and David Scott who understand technology and are committed to storage leadership for the new style of IT.

We are always looking for great people and if you're a storage expert, consider joining me at HP.  We are hiring and just to whet your appetite, I asked Anita Filip (@Anita4HP) to suggest a few open jobs that I could include.  Checkout this PDF she created with just a few of the hot (U.S.) jobs we have and check out www.hp.com/jobs for other jobs if one of these isn't a fit for you.  Feel free to reachout to me via email if you're interested in any of these jobs or something you find on our jobs website.

I'm having a great time here, I think you will too and the future is bright!
