Block or file based storage for VMware

At HP Discover, my fellow vExpert Eric Siebert had a session titled "Block or file based storage for VMware environments". I recorded the audio of that session and have it for you today on the blog.  You have a couple of ways to get this content:

• YouTube video where I have added the slides Eric used
• Audio only podcast and if you want to download Eric's slides (1.2MB PDF)

The session was a bit over 30 minutes long so I'll give it to you in two parts.  Here's an overview of part 1:

• Comparing block and file-based protocols
• Storage requirements for VMware environments
• Deeper look at Fibre Channel, iSCSI, and NAS - including advantages and disadvantages of each

And as I said, I also have a podcast version of this if you'd rather download it and listen to it later you can.  While seeing the slides is helpful, Eric did a great job of presenting this in a way so you don't need the slides to understand his presentation.

Great topic of discussion CZ. In relation to this topic, I've stopped counting the number of times I've had the FC vs. iSCSI conversations with customers. This one will definitely be bookmarked under +1 collateral! Looking forward to part 2.

DP - I knew this would be a great session to record and soon as Eric told me about it (a couple of months before HP Discover).  I'm rendering the video for part 2 now so should have it up either soon or tomorrow morning - its getting very late here!  Thanks for the feedback.
