Welcome to another 3PAR Thursday blog! To jump right in: have you seen the new Critical Capabilities reports for Midrange and High-End Storage published by Gartner? If not, consider giving both reports a read:  one for Midrange Storage and one for High-End Storage.

You’ll see that HP 3PAR StoreServ was rated 3.9 out of 5 for overall use cases in the midrange report. In the high-end report, HP 3PAR StoreServ and HP XP Storage were rated 4.0 and 4.2, respectively. The two reports assess storage systems and rate them based on critical capabilities for primary storage. These studies are great assets when you’re looking at storage for modern data centers because they describe practical use cases as the real value measure of these array platforms.

In the report, you’ll see how Gartner applies weightings for real-world use cases. I believe these demonstrate how the 3PAR StoreServ value proposition—Effortless, Efficient, Bullet Proof and Future Proof—really shines!

HP 3PAR StoreServ 7000 offers Tier-1 capabilities with midrange affordability. Since its introduction a little more than a year ago, customers continue to rave about the rich data services that are now available to them. Gone are the days where they had to compromise on performance, scalability or features because of budget. 3PAR StoreServ 7000 makes storage effortless with its self-configuring, self-provisioning, self-optimizing automation. On top of that, with 3PAR StoreServ 7000, HP guarantees a minimum 50 percent reduction in capacity requirements when you replace legacy storage with HP 3PAR StoreServ.*

HP believes these ratings reflect Tier-1 value of both XP and 3PAR StoreServ, two product options in the HP storage portfolio. HP 3PAR StoreServ delivers mission critical enterprise capabilities for virtualization, cloud and IT-as-a-Service (ITaaS) environments with a modern scale-out architecture that is designed to meet these new demands.

With its autonomic management for rapid provisioning, system-wide resource striping and an ASIC to handle unpredictable workloads, 3PAR StoreServ is the solution for the New Style of IT.  HP XP Storage is bulletproof storage for mission critical applications where resiliency is the primary requirement. Suited for traditional applications, HP XP Storage offers traditional array management, multi-array performance scaling, and software based capacity reclaim among other features.

Both 3PAR StoreServ and XP offer administrative agility, mixed workload support, and capacity efficiency that are optimized for either traditional applications (with XP) or the new style of IT (with 3PAR StoreServ). HP has you covered when it comes to Tier-1 enterprise storage.
