HP and Microsoft - Your Journey. Your Cloud. Your Way

CJZ headshot.jpegBy Calvin Zito, @HPStorageGuy

A couple of weeks ago, we had a full day of live streaming interviews from Microsoft Management Summit.  There's no doubt that both HP and Microsoft are titans in technology and the partnership is helping our customers with their cloud journey - whether that is a private cloud or hybrid cloud.  The interviews we did focused on cloud and topics related to that.  There are too many videos to embed them all but I'm going to put a few of them here and give you links to the rest.

We started the day with a great discussion between Jeff Carlat, a director in our ProLiant Software team and Mark Hassall, Director in the Server and Tools Business Group at Microsoft.

HP Storage and Microsoft

There were several interviews we did focused on storage.  Again, there are too many to embed them all but here are a couple that I still recommend you watch:

The final storage video I'll highlight I'll include here and this is a discussion I had with Parissa Mohamadi - she is our solution manager in HP Storage for all of our Microsoft-based solutions which includes applications like Exchange and SQL but also Windows Server and Hyper-V.  Here's that discussion:

You can learn more about what HP Storage is doing with Microsoft at hp.com/storage/Microsoft.

The Serverquarium (and I'm not talking about a fish bowl)!

The next set of videos to highlight is the Serverquarium.  This was the infrastructure that was used to run the Hands-on-Labs at MMS.  Check out the tour I got of it in this video.

Another video from the Serverquarium worth checking out is an interview Andy McCaskey from SDRNews.com did with Steve Cole, Director of Technology Services at Xtreme Consulting.  They implemented the Serverquarium.

Lets get Cloudy!
A big focus at the event and with the work going on between HP and Microsoft is around cloud computing - so here are those videos:

  • Departmental Private Cloud - a reference architecture for medium sized business.  Andy talked with the Travis Newton, HP Product Marketing Manager for this solution based on Hyper-V and HP Converged Infrastructure.
  • Andy talked with Alain Inugai about the HP Cloud Solution for Microsoft.  Alain used to work in HP Storage and he's very articulate so check it out.

Wrapping it up!

We had a break from live streaming videos and I asked the guys if we had time to do a short video from the booth.  I think I had more fun than anyone except that Jeffery (@Geekazine) had me go up and hug a rack with servers and storage like 15 times.  If you listen closely to the very end of this video, you can tell I had enough of hugging the rack!

The last video I want to share in my wrap up is the wrap up video Andy and I did.  Really, we summarized the day of interviews.  If you hear us talk about an interview that I didn't include in my blog post today, you'll find all the videos we did on SDRNews.com - so find them all there.

Finally, thanks again to Jeffery Powers (geekazine.com), Andy (SDRNews.com), and the HP and Microsoft team that helped us pull this off - hard to believe we did this much in an 8 hour day!

The one stop-shop for everything that HP and Microsoft are doing is at hp.com/go/Microsoft so check it out!

i have some question about hp

  • How much storage is being used right now?
  • Who is using it and what it is being used for?
  • How much storage will be necessary to support the business?
