I'm going to Disneyland, almost. Nth Generation Symposium

CartoonCalvin100X100.JPG By Calvin Zito, aka @HPStorageGuy

At our recent HP Technology Forum event in Las Vegas, I met Dan Molina, Chief Technology Office for Nth Generation.  Nth Generation is an HP partner in Southern California.  Dan told me a bit about their Nth Generation Symposium happening at Disney's Grand Californian right next to Disneyland.  I heard a bit about it last year because my social media buddy Stephen Foskett was there and hosted a roundtable discussion.

When I got home from Tech Forum, I got an email from John Randall, VP of Marketing at Nth, inviting me to attend the Symposium.  I started my HP career in the area (working out of the HP Fullerton sales office) and the agenda was packed with great topics and speakers - so I jumped at the chance to attend event.

The event starts on Tuesday August 3-5.  Not only do they have a compelling agenda  with industry experts but they also will have a lot of gear at the event in their advanced technology lab.

The Twitter hashtag we'll use for the event is #Nth2010.  Following the conversation on Twitter will give you pretty good insight into the topics at the event, which will include:

  • Panel discussion on iSCSI, FCoE, and Fibre Channel.  That will be fun especially with HP's Chet Jacob on the panel.
  • Several sessions that will talk about Converged Infrastructure.
  • Green IT and Real Estate Convergence - this session by the County of Orange so should be interesting to hear a customer perspective.
  • IT Transformation Case Study - a look at HP's IT transformation.
  • Several sessions on Cloud, including one with VMware CTO Stephen Herrod.
  • HP Sr VP of ProLiant and BladeSystem Mark Potter discussing driving innovations on standards.
  • Re-writing the rules of enterprise networking
  • Application Lifecycle Management
  • Migrating to Exchange 2010
  • HP and VMware integration (presented by VMware)
  • Storage Industry Trends and the role of storage in the Converged Infrastructure
  • Data Center Operations Automation
  • VMware and HP Client Virtualization
  • and more....

There are several event sponsors, even a few competitors that I'm looking forward to meeting so it should be a great event.

Unfortunately, I won't have time to go to Disneyland but hoping to be back there later this fall with my family.  Come back next week for more on the Nth Generation Symposium!

Well, Calvin...after a VERY long Monday, I think we're ready to blast off on Day 1 of Nth Generation's 10th Annual Technical Symposium!  Hard to believe this is our TENTH one.  The Ballroom's all set up and lookin' great...those dual projection screens POP and we've got an amazing roster of talent for all three days.

The Advanced Technology Lab is amazing this year!  Wait 'til you see the Converged Infrastructure Datacenter that our Engineers dreamed up...it's incredible!  And that's only a small part of the Lab.  UNREAL!  Talk to you in the morning...I'm kickin' this baby off at 8:00am tomorrow!

Hey John - was great to meet you face-to-face today and indeed the Ballroom looked great and the content at today's Symposium was fantastic.  The Advanced Technology Lab was something to see - I got a bit of video there tonight but need to get more tomorrow.  The video wall, powered by a single HP IO Accelerator was very cool!

I'm looking forward to what the next two days hold!

Calvin
