I'm going to the Super Bowl ya'll!!

I’m headed to another HP Tech Day!  If you’re new to my blog, a Tech Day is an event where we bring independent bloggers to HP and give them an inside look at HP strategy and products as well as access to execs and engineers.  Last fall, I was in Roseville for our HP Networking Tech Day and learned a lot about that business.  I’ve also driven two storage-focused Tech Days.

This one is a Converged Infrastructure Tech Day with a focus on our BladeSystem and ProLiant servers.  It promises to be a special one and that’s the reason for the title of my article.  The Tech Day will start in Arlington, Texas – the new home of the Dallas Cowboys, the new Cowboys Stadium which will host the Super Bowl later this year.  That is in fact where the Tech Day will begin on Monday.

The bloggers will hear from HP first, getting the latest updates on our HP Converged Infrastructure.  Then, we’ll turn it over to the Dallas Cowboys who will give a tour of the stadium and the data center that powers it.  How cool that will be!  There will be a couple of sessions where the Cowboys staff will talk about why they decided to partner with HP and our own Ken Henault (@BladeGuy on Twitter) will talk more about the HP technology at the stadium.  We’ll have lunch at the stadium (I was a huge Cowboys’ fan as a kid – I’m hoping Roger Staubach or my namesake Calvin Hill show up) and then jump on a bus and head to Houston. (Ok - so Calvin Hill isn't my namesake but I was a Cowboys fan as a boy because the first game I watched on TV had Calvin Hill playing for them).

Tuesday will be spent at our campus in Houston at the state-of-the-art Executive Briefing Center.  The day is jam-packed with session and tours.  What the bloggers will hear about will include:

  • Industry Standard Server (ISS) business update
  • State of the X86 server market and trends
  • ProLiant innovation update and comparison (this was a VERY popular session last year and I’m really looking forward to this one)
  • Networking for the Converged Infrastructure with HP Virtual Connect Flex Fabric update
  • Factory flour tour
  • Data Center Smart Grid for Converged Infrastructure with Intelligent Power Discover
  • Insight Management for Converged Infrastructure
  • Storage for the Converged Infrastructure

Whenever we do these events, I like to highlight the bloggers who are coming.  These guys are technical experts and a great resource for you to leverage.  I’m looking forward to this Tech Day because many of these bloggers are new to me.  Schedule to attend are:

There are a number of HP folks who will be tweeting from the event too so watch for @BladeGuy, @ProLiant, @BladeNews, and of course @HPStorageGuy.  The easiest way to see the Twitter timeline is to follow all the tweets with the hashtag #HPProLiantDay.  And if you’re not on Twitter already, I really encourage you to use it as a great tool to connect with me and the others in industry – I’ve personally found it to be surprisingly useful.

Whoa!  When I see the list of bloggers you've got assembled...  I ...  I...   I want to fall asleep.

@BuzzyBee - sorry we didn't invite you but heard you were sleeping for the winter, LOL.  Frankly, they were a great group to the man.
