Early today I had a blog post giving an overview of our announcement at the HP Global Partner Conference.  In this post, I want to dive a bit into the MSA 1040, the newest member of the MSA family.

I have a new ChalkTalk that gives a short overview showing where the MSA 1040 fits along with the very popular MSA 2040.  What do four-hundred thousand, fifteen, and one mean?  Watch the ChalkTalk to find out. Here it is:

Diving into the MSA 1040

The MSA 1040 has up to 50% more performance at 25% lower price than the previous product (the MSA P2000 G3).  It is the MSA product to pick when budget matters.  It starts at $6500 US List Price and is factory configured dual controller array with either 1GbE iSCSI, 10 GbE iSCSI or 8Gb Fibre Channel.  Each MSA 1040 has 4 ports (two per controller).  It has 2X the controller cache, and faster processors than the P2000.   And as you come to expect with the MSA, it has the ultimate upgrade option with our Data-in-Place upgrade that allows you to change your MSA controllers.  This is unique in entry level storage!

MSA ShortTake

A few weeks ago I introduced a new format call the Around the Storage Block ShortTake - these are short audio podcasts with slides I'll post to SlideShare.net.  I'm having our product, solution and program experts create these.  In this ShortTake, Britt Terry - Worldwide Product Marketing Manager for the MSA family talks you through it.

Here's the ShortTake #2 - Introducing the MSA 1040.  First the audio and below it the slides on SlideShare, either of which you can download.

If you rather download this as a podcast, right click here and save the MP3 file. You can also subscribe to my podcast on iTunes - go to the iTunes store and search for "Around the Storage Block" or you can open this link and click on the "View in iTunes" button under my picture.

And here are the slides:

You can dive deeper on the MSA family page or leave any questions you have in the comments.
