Around the Storage Block Blog

I'll be headed to VMware PEX in a few hours - excited to be at that event and hear more from VMware about how they see the future.  I'll talk about what I can here and on Twitter. 

A couple of weeks ago I had a blog post pointing to the blog posts from our guest bloggers at the Tech Day in Ft. Collins.  A few of the bloggers have more content from our HP Tech Day. I wanted to point to them here:

• Brian Knudtson has some very good insights and perspective from the day and half event in his post. Brian's day job is as a systems engineer for a partner and he brings some of his real-word experience into play in his blog post. 
• My friend John Obeto has a post talking about the Converged Storage education he got at our Tech Day. John also has a blog post with video of the VirtualSystem session.  I noticed John said he's going to be pestering me to learn more about the VirtualSystem - I'm hoping to see him tomorrow night at the VMware PEX Tweetup we sponsored - so bring your best pester John!
• Probably worth pointing you to John's video channel on Vimeo - he got good video of many of the sessions.  Here's a link to his Vimeo channel and all his videos.
• Justin Paul has a post he published a few days ago on the Tech Day, focused on what Justin thought the highlights of our event was (besides touring the New Belgium Brewery, which was pretty darn cool!).
• The last post I'll call out is from Alastair Cooke - Alastair spent more time on airplanes flying to our Tech Day from New Zealand than we spent in sessions.  During our two days, we showed the bloggers an X5000 (which is the same hardware as the E5000 Messaging System for Microsoft Exchange 2010).  The conversation that I heard from a lot of the guys is captured in Alastair's post titled HP Storage product I wish was a ProLiant. Who knows - maybe he'll get his wish!

Lastly, I wanted to point you to a blog post written by our Tom Joyce, our VP of Marketing, Strategy and Operations.  I've said before that things in HP Storage really started to change when Tom got here a couple of years ago.  Tom is a savvy industry veteran and I really like his post from late last Friday titled "Struck by Lightning". Tom takes on the hoopla of EMC's VF Cache announcement and has an interesting take.  He also mentions the recent IBM XIV SPC-1 results.  Check out Tom's blog.
