Yesterday I had a post talking about the new version of Command View for the P6000 EVA.  Shortly after I sent the article out on Twitter, an EVA customer asked me how can an existing customer get the new version of Command View.  I got a URL where you can download Command View v10.0 from the HP Software Depot.  I added it to the post yesterday but it was at the bottom and I'm guessing many of you missed it.  So here's the link you can download Command View v10.0.

I also was reminded that we have a P6000 EVA simulator.  It's basically Command View - and so the simulator is a great way for someone not familiar with the EVA or Command View can get a sense of how they work.  So if you want don't have an EVA or don't have Command View v10.0 and want to see how they work, download the simulatorThe lastest simulator also includes Performance Advisor (PA) - so while the data being used just shows some simple synthetic workloads, you can get a sense of what you can do with PA.

Have a great weekend!

Hey, I like the CV simulator, it's nice way to test things before doing them on a production system.

So, is this "Performance Advisor (PA)" in the wild yet? Can I install this latest version of CV and get a EVA performance solution I can use to graph and set thresholds, etc?

So is this "Performance Advisor (PA)" ready to use to evaluate my EVA's performance simply by installing CV 10.0?

Performance Advisor (PA) does require licensing so while it's included with CV 10.0, you'll need to purchase PA if you want to use it long term.  Also, Command View enables all software features (Business Copy, Thin Provisioning, Performance Advisor, etc.) for 60 days.  This allows time for customers to use their arrays prior to installing licenses.  It also allows customers to try the features during the 60 day period.

PA will graph several different performance aspects; bandwidth, thru-put, etc.   It does not set thresholds.  that is done with Command View.

can this simulator be used with the SCVMM 2012 ??

by on 04-09-2012 06:26 PM

Tiago - as far as I know, it's a standalone simulator and doesn't integrate with things like SCVMM.  If I find differently, I'll let you know.  It's really meant to show the capabilities of Command View and the P6000.
