Push the ball forward with HP Converged Infrastructure

Boy do we have a lot to talk about for the next several days on the blog.  Today we are announcing several enhancements to our portfolio and as I think you'll see, it's starting to become much more clear what we mean when we talk about storage for the Converged Infrastructure.  There are two themes of the announcement:

  • First, HP has been working fast to integrate 3PAR into other converged infrastructure technologies so we want to talk about the new innovations with 3PAR plus BladeSystem Matrix and our IBRIX-based X9000 solutions.  We have been seeing a TON of momentum with 3PAR and these enhancements are most timely. (NOTE: Several months after this podcast, the naming of BladeSystem Matrix was changed to CloudSystem Matrix).
  • Second, I want to discuss a series of new products which all share common BladeSystem and ProLiant DNA and that are helping customers simplify storage for data protection, virtual IT, and messaging.  Those products are the HP StoreOnce D2D Backup System, P4800 BladeSystem SAN (HP LeftHand), and the E5000 messaging system.

Today, I'm introducing a new media format on my blog - I've used podcasts and videos before.  Today I'm using a "power podcast" - a combination of a podcast with slides.  I doing this a bit out of necessity because there is an issue with me embedding podcasts here on the blog so I came up with a work-around of using YouTube for the podcast, with slides as wallpaper.  The slides will add to the conversation but you can just listen if you like.

In part 1 of 2 power podcasts,  I talked with Brad Parks, our storage strategist working on the Converged Infrastructure team.  The first enhancement we'll discuss is the integration of 3PAR with HP BladeSystem Matrix.  I'll also have more on this tomorrow as I have a video that demos this capability.  The other 3PAR enhancement is the integration of 3PAR and the X9000 (IBRIX) Network Storage Gateway.  Here's the power podcast:

I'll publish part 2 of my conversation with Brad later today so check back!
