SNW Podcast on Cloud Computing
By Calvin Zito, @HPStorageGuy
Spring SNW in Dallas is underway and in full swing. I made the first sessions of the day, choosing a session from the Cloud Computing track. Greg Schulz, IT advisor and author of the book Cloud and Virtual Data Storage Networking, gave a great presentation by the same name. I was fortunate to get a few minutes with Greg after his session and talk to him about his session and this book.
I love Greg's approach - to the cloud "cynics" he looks like a cheerleader and to the cloud cheerleaders, he looks like a cynic. I think you'll appreciate his refreshing approach to cloud computing. Here's my podcast with him.
You can download this podcast by doing a right-click and "Save as" here. You can find all of my podcasts at http://bit.ly/ATSB-podcasts OR you can download all of my podcasts from iTunes by clicking here - it will open iTunes and allow you to download all of my recent podcasts. If you have any issues with this second link, paste this into your browser: itpc://recordings.talkshoe.com/rss69339.xml. "itpc" is a special format that opens iTunes and lets you download the podcasts from iTunes.
Greg gives some of the ways to get a hold of him in our podcast that I want to give you here:
>> Check out Greg's book Cloud and Virtual Data Storage Networking on Amazon.com
>> Connect with Greg on Twitter - his Twitter ID is @StorageIO
>> Greg's website is storageio.com/
>> Greg's blog is at storageioblog.com
>> Finally, Greg made his slides from his SNW session available on his website as a PDF download - check them out.
I'll have more podcasts and content from SNW lined up over the next few days so be sure to check back.

The cloud computing as it is affectionately known is in the process of becoming a jobs growth machine. A recent study by IDC shows that cloud spending in 2011 was $28 billion and generated $400 billion in revenue. The net result was 1.5 million jobs created. By 2016, the number of new jobs created by the cloud will be in the neighborhood of 8.8 million.
