Storage for the Converged Cloud

This past week, we HP held a Tech Day focused on Converged Cloud.  I'm pretty disappointed I wasn't able to go because the location in Puerto Rico was my idea.  After meeting my HP Labs colleague Martina Trucco at HP Discover in Frankfurt, she got me excited to do a Tech Day there.  Turns out that the Converged Cloud team picked the week of Spring Break here in Boise and I couldn't swing going to Puerto Rico.

But we did have a storage session - and it was done via an HP Halo Room.  Halo is a HD video conferencing service we have and I got to attend our storage session while the bloggers were in Puerto Rico and our two storage presenters were in California and Massachusetts.

I'm going to show you our Storage for the Converged Cloud over the next several days.  The first part of the session was lead by Patrick Osborne.  Patrick is the director of product management and has our information protection and archiving products - this includes things like HP StoreOnce and StoreAll.  Patrick gives a really good overview of how our portfolio fits into the Converged Cloud offering and then spends some time talking about block, file, and object storage for the cloud.

Here's what Patrick presented:

Here's an audio-only MP3 that you can download.

I'll bring you part 2 next week where Sam Fineberg, Distinguished Technologist in the HP Storage Office of the CTO discusses what HP Storage is doing with OpenStack.
