Storage strategy focus with HP Storage chief and Intel
By Calvin Zito, @HPStorageGuy
I have two things to share with you today. In our Blogger Lounge at HP Discover, the invited bloggers have many opportunities to hear from HP executives and technical experts in our "coffee talks". We held a coffee talk with David Scott, Sr. VP and GM of HP Storage and Milan Shetti, CTO of HP Storage. David and Milan spent about an hour with the bloggers answering their questions. I edited this down to the core Q&A with the bloggers and it's about a 30 minute podcast - long by my standards but there were a lot of great conversation driven by the questions the bloggers asked. Here's a high-level look at what's in the podcast:
- StoreOnce: 0 - 15:30 (times are approximate)
- HP 3PAR and Virtual Connect Flat SAN: 15:30 - 18:10
- SSD discussion: 18:10 - 21:30
- 3PAR and Data Protector futures, working across HP businesses: 21:30 - 28:00
- Object storage at HP: 28:00 - 29:45
- Autonomy and storage integration: 29:45 - end
Here's the podcast:
If you rather download this as a podcast now, just right-click here and save the MP3 file. You can subscribe to my podcast on iTunes - go to the iTunes store and search for "Around the Storage Block" or you can open this link and click on the "View in iTunes" button under my picture.
Also at HP Discover, I did a video with Kerry Johns-Vano, Director of Intel's Storage Division and Tom Joyce, VP of Marketing, Strategy, and Operations in HP Storage. Kerry and Tom talked about the work that HP and Intel are doing to drive Converged Storage.
We're several months from HP Discover in Europe happening in Frankfurt December 4-6th but I'm already looking forward to it. If you're an independent blogger and in particular are focused on storage and are interested in attending, ping me on Twitter.
