Today's a big day - VMware had their cloud infrastructure announcement that we've all been waiting for.  I'm not going to go into a lot of details about the announcement but rather focus on what HP Storage is doing to integrate with VMware.  Over the next several days, I will have podcasts going into deeper detail on topics like:

• VASA or vStorage API for Storage Awareness and how it will work with HP Insight Control Storage Module for vCenter
• The new VAAI primitives in vSphere 5.0 and the advantages HP 3PAR have with those new primitives as well as looking back at the original vSphere 4.1 primitives.
• Overview of SRM 5.0 and the requirements for new SRA's to support them
• VMware's newly announced Virtual SAN Appliance (VSA) and the HP P4000 LeftHand VSA that has been available for nearly four years
• Support for 2TB of memory in a server, 1TB of VM memory, and 32 virtual CPUs per VM

Today I start with an overview that will set the stage for the more detailed podcasts I'll have as we progress through the week.  My guest on the podcast is Mike Koponen.  Mike's worked in technology for 25 years and has worked with VMware for the last six years.  Here's the podcast with Mike:
