VMware vExperts at HP for 2013!

I was out with my son at a movie (the new Star Trek film) and when I got home, I saw a few tweets congratulating me on being named a vExpert again.  I'd been so heads down with getting ready for HP Discover, I missed the vExpert 2013 announcement.

I was first named a vExpert in 2011 and wrote a blog post about it.  I wasn't aware of anyone else at HP that was a vExpert though there may have been a couple I didn't know about.  This year, I'm pleased to see there are nine HP VMware vExperts and I wanted to briefly introduce you to them:

  • Eric Siebert - @ericsiebert on Twitter.  Eric was a customer for a long time and a huge contributor on the VMware community forums.  He manages HP Storage Solutions for VMware; on nights and weekends he also manages vsphere-land.com, one of the top VMware-focused blog sites.  Eric has been a vExpert since the program began in 2009.
  • Andre Carpenter - @andrecarpenter on Twitter.  Andre works as a solution architect in Australia and is focused on VMware and storage solutions.   He’s been actively writing technical blogs, several have been as guest blogs here on Around the Storage Block blog but has his own VMware-focused blog as well, cloud-land.com.  This is Andre’s first go as a vExpert
  • Stephen Spellicy - @spellicy on Twitter and he manages the HP Data Protector team.  Stephen built quite a social media following and is well known among many in the VMware community.  I think he “took a break” from being a vExpert but was selected this year.  Stephen has asked me to co-present a session at HP Discover and I'll tell you about that later this week.
  • Amitabh Dey - @AmitabhPancham on Twitter.  This is his first vExpert award. He has his own blog focused on VDI, virtualization and cloud.  He also guest blogs on the HP Software blog, Managing your vReality as well as 1CloudRoad.com
  • Rotem Agmon - @RotemAgmon – is a VMware focused Technical Consultant in Israel.  He blogs at VMware Pro
  • Ramesh Geddam – I see Ramesh has co-written a new book: VMware View Virtualization How-to. Currently he works in our Solution and Support Engineering, as a VMware Technical Lead, and a member of Core Engineering and Core training team for VMware at HP.  He's also pursuing a PhD in Virtualized Systems!
  • Daichi Ogawa - @ogawad_jp – is a solution architect focusing on HP ProLiant, VMware and Hyper-V solutions and also has a Japanese language blog.
  • David Weinstein - @virtualrx (though not active).  David focuses on virtualization for Enterprise Services, and like Eric, has been a vExpert every years since the program’s inception. He's worked with VMware since 2004 both as a consultant/architect and as an instructor working for different partners as well as VMware.

Amitabh, Ramesh, Rotem, and Andre are all first time vExperts so congrats to them!

Lastly, we have a few vExperts that we're hosting in our Bloggers' Lounge at HP Discover next week that I'd also like to congratulate:

Congrats to all the newly announced 2013 vExperts!  You can read more about all the newly named vExperts on a blog post from John Troyer, the leader of the vExpert program, has written.

Rotem - with the busyness of HP Discover I forgot to reply; glad to do it!

Ernesto - really hoping I make VMworld.  My daughter goes off to college the week before VMworld starts and they're having parent orientation the day before VMworld starts.  To top it off, my wife and I celebrate our 20th anniversary in the middle of VMworld and I'm afraid I might not make it to 21 years if I'm at VMworld.  That said, I should be there Monday and Tuesday and hoping I can still find a way to be there Sunday.
