Videos from HP Storage Tech Day 4

CJZ Headshot fixed 150 x 150.jpgBy Calvin Zito, @HPStorageGuy  vExpert 2011, 2012, 2013.png

NOTE: This blog post was edited to reflect that the videos are now available on-demand.

Our HP Storage Tech Day 4 happened on July 29 from the Disneyland Hotel.  I had a blog post a few days ago telling you about who was coming and the agenda.  Today I'll give you a quick recap of the agenda, and include embedded video players where you can watch our Tech Day on demand!

Agenda overview

I'll summarize the day's agenda into 3 sessions.  Each of the 3 sessions will have a different YouTube URL and thus I'll give you three video windows to watch each of the event sessions.  Here's what the day should look like and the video for that session.

Morning session

  • Time: 8 AM - noon Pacific Daylight Time (that's 11 AM - 3 PM EST).  We'll take a short break mid-way through
  • Topics: I'll kick-off the event and also talk about why I'm excited about the future of HP Storage.  At about 8:30 AM PDT, the HP 3PAR team will take over and spend the rest of the morning talking about the HP 3PAR architecture focusing on our flash strategy and a technology drill down that will explain how we're doing flash storage differently, Priority Optimization and Peer Persistence (and other relevant data service).

NOTE: This is a new version of the video with the sound issues addressed.

Early afternoon session

  • Topics:  This session will focus on our Software-Defined Storage (SDS) strategy.  We'll have a brief overview of how we see SDS and then have deep dives on HP StoreVirtual VSA (formerly HP LeftHand), HP StoreOnce VSA, and HP's storage management strategy including OpenStack.

Late afternoon session

Topics: the last session covered flash-based storage.

I've created a "Twitter List" of all the bloggers who are attending the Tech Day and Nth Symposium.  You can follow what they had to say here: HP Storage Tech Day 4 Twitter List.

A big THANK-YOU (yes, I'm shouting) to @Geekazine Jeffrey Powers for helping us to live-stream the HP Storage Tech Day.

This is VERY difficult to hear the audio, is it possible to place a microphone closer to the speaker?

So far this has had very little effectiveness as a result of either not being to hear or hearing too much background noise

Hope this will be posted on HP channel as well..

The presentation is great content but the audio is not, it is too low. I can berly hear some of the words.

@Brian - Hopefully it's better now. Our video blogger only has a couple of mics bit we're using what we have "smarter".

@Azhagarasu - I'm recording the audio & my video blogger is grabbing video. Might not have it on HP YouTube channel but I'll point to on-demand versions here once we have them.

since there wasn't a whole lot of information on it (at least not that I could catch.... The audio was quite difficult to hear on my iPad ha ha).... What's the deal with async streaming? Is that similar to the async journal replication that we had with EVA? If so, is there a timeline for when this feature will be available?
