HP and NASCAR - I'm going to Texas Motor Speedway and Phoenix International Raceway!

A few weeks ago while watching a cable news channel, an HP advertisement came on.  It was NASCAR telling a bit of their story and how they partner with HP with their Fan and Media Engagement.  A few days after seeing the ad, I got invited to attend a couple of NASCAR Business Series events - these events are done at race track venue for the weekend's NASCAR races.  This coming week, the event is at Texas Motor Speedway and I'm really looking forward to participating on a panel discussing how small and midsized businesses can leverage social  and mobile media to reach their customers.

The NASCAR TV ad is very impressive (and short) so check it out here.

HP 3PAR StoreServ named best in class by DCIG

DCIG-2014-Midrange-Array-Buyers-Guide-Logo-500x500-thumb-200x201-442.jpgEarlier this week, industry analyst firm DCIG released their 2014 Enterprise Midrange Array Buyer's Guide.  I'm very proud to say that the HP 3PAR StoreServ 7400 earned the title of "best in class". DCIG has a blog post on their site with some comments about the buyers guide but I wanted to highlight a few things they had to say:

  • A single array can be scaled out to 4 mesh-active controllers managing up to 864 TBs of data
  • Offers HP 3PAR Peer Persistence and Remote Copy software to synchronously replicate data and then implement uninterrupted VM failover and failback without needing to implement a third party appliance or replication software
  • Has "Best-in-Class" features, yet carries a starting list price below $50,000--which puts it within reach of many mid-sized organizations

The HP 3PAR StoreServ 7000 really changed the game in the midrange storage market.  It brings with it tier-1 features and software that you'd find in arrays that cost six figures.  And while DCIG looked at the 7400 - which scales to 4 nodes - the 7200 has an even lower price point starting at around $25,000.  I have a ChalkTalk I did back when we announced the 7000 family back in December; if you're not familiar with it, you should check it out.
