Bloggers coming to HP Discover

I like to do a blog post calling out the independent bloggers we bring to an event, whether is a smaller event like an HP Tech Day or a big event like HP Discover.  With HP Discover starting next week, I want to do that again and encourage you to:

  1. Follow them on Twitter (and if you're not on Twitter, what are you waiting for)?
  2. Read their blogs to get their take on what they see and hear at HP Discover.

To see the list of the bloggers coming, read the blog post.

Keeping up with storage!

As we continue to get ready for HP Discover (yes, I'm just a little excited about it!), you can stay in touchMark your calendar.png with what is happening at our special hp.com storage announcement page.  You can also register for our announcement webcast by clicking on the "Mark your calendar" graphic.

Your biggest issue with information protection - get free t-shirt

I'm down to my last question as we get ready to head to HP Discover in Frankfurt.  I'd like you to leave a comment below on what is your biggest challenge around information protection.  If you leave a comment (and follow a few other rules I'll have below), I'll have an HP Storage t-shirt sent to you.  Easy, no?

Must see storage sessions at HP Discover

I have a couple of ATSB traditions when it comes to events like HP Discover: 1) A blog post talking about the bloggers coming and 2) a blog post with my top sessions.  Today I wanted to share my top (mostly storage) sessions at HP Discover.

As I looked at the list of sessions, it was clear that I'd have to make choices because there are always at least two storage sessions running at the same time and I saw one time slot that has four concurrent storage sessions.   Some of those conflicts are between a business breakout and a technical breakout session so I will list a couple of those conflicting sessions so you can decide which is in your interest area.

The Mother of all sessions!

Sleekbook.pngIf you only come to one storage session, here's the one you have to put on your list.  Sr VP and GM of HP Storage David Scott along with EMEA VP Chris Johnson with host a session on Tuesday, 11:00 AM titled "HP unveils new storage for the next era of IT - your VIP access to the biggest announcement of the year".  I can't say a whole lot more about the session but I think the title makes pretty clear it will be a great session.  And to motivate you a bit more to come, all attendees will get raffle ticket for the grand prize drawing of an HP ENVY TouchSmart Sleekbook.  Bring your ticket Tuesday at 5:30 PM to our HP Storage booth in the Converged Infrastructure Pavilion, watch the booth unveiling, and keep your fingers crossed and you can win the HP ENVY.

Check out the blog post to get the session details.

Attend from afar

Mark your calendar.pngLastly,  if you aren't able to join us in Frankfurt, you can still get the news as it happens.  We have an hp.com page with tons of info and a count down clock to out big happenings at HP Discover.  And here's a link where you can sign-up to attend via your PC (click on the image).

Talking HP Discover with Connect CMO Nina Buik

Nina BuikI first met Nina Buik - Chief Marketing Officer at Connect - in September 2009 when she attended our first HP Storage Tech Day. We tend to be at the same event a few times each year and I especially enjoy hanging out with her and the Connect Community at HP Discover.

Since she's such a veteran of HP Discover, I thought it would a great idea get her on the ATSB podcast and give her tips on attending the event.

Here's the podcast with Nina

Your biggest challenges with information retention and analytics

In a recent blog post I did, I talked about how you can win free swag (t-shirt) from me just by leaving a comment.  This week, I'm going to bring that conversation to ATSB.  Here's a video that nicely sets up the comments I'd like to hear from you.

What do you think of the video and the challenges talked about around information retention and analytics?  Were there any challenges discussed that hit home for you or was there something not talked about that keeps you up at night?  I want to hear from you!

If you read my blog post, I give instructions on how you can get a t-shirt.  Check it out!

Are you coming to Frankfurt - what to see

P1050002.JPGWith HP Discover in Frankfurt around the corner, I thought I'd take a few minutes to share with you what I remember and liked about being in the area.  I've been to Frankfurt a few times - but my favorite was one of my trips I got to spend about 10 days with my daughter in the Frankfurt and Munich areas when I brought her along with me to HP Tech@Work in April 2010 (that event was the predecessor to HP Discover).  While we enjoyed our time in Frankfurt, we found Munich to be more interesting, especially visiting the castles of Ludwig in Bavaria.  Frankfurt is a great venue for an event, Munich is a great place to be a tourist. Here are my personal suggestions:

New format - HP ChalkTalk

HP Storage ChalkTalk.pngI've been playing around with the software over the last couple of weeks and made three HP Storage ChalkTalk videos.  I think they do a good job giving an overview of the HP StoreEasy NAS and HP StoreVirtual Storage solutions we announced last week.

I plan on doing ChalkTalks more often so check them out and then let me ask you to answer a couple of questions with your comments:

  1. Do you find this video format useful?
  2. What topics would you like me to cover in future HP ChalkTalks?

Thanks for watching!
