Innovation at HP and HP Labs

Ben Express Query tweet.pngI had a blog post yesterday focused on the StoreAll Express Query, technology that came from HP Labs.  I'm pretty excited about it and the fact that HP Storage is doing so much with HP Labs.  One of our bloggers thought it was pretty cool stuff too. (See the image of @benkepes' tweet).

This got me thinking - we just don't do enough to highlight innovation.  Sure, we talk about our products and try to point out things that differentiate HP.  When I met my colleague Martina Trucco from HP Labs, we started talking about doing more to show the cool things our very smart researchers at HP Labs are doing.  The juices started to flow and when I realized I had an open video slot in our bloggers' lounge, I asked Martina if she would do a video with me to talk about it.

HP Labs and StoreAll Express Query

You know we announced HP StoreAll Storage at HP Discover - my words to describe it are that it's a file and object converged platform for retention super-charged with Express Query.  Express Query captures and stores metadata and can be searched at lightening fast speeds compared to a traditional file scan.  A test we ran showed it was 100,000 times faster (and no, that isn't a typo).

While at HP Discover, I did a video with Alistair Veitch from HP Labs and we talked about Express Query.  Alistair is the Director of Storage & Information Management Platforms.  Here's the video I did with Alistair.

And while I'm excited to share the video with Alistair, I'm even more excited about this blog post from HP Labs.  The post is titled, "HP Labs’ contributions to HP StoreAll, announced at HP Discover Frankfurt".  The post is from HP Labs researchers Kim Keeton and Brad Morrey who work for Alistair and were very involved with Express Query.  It's great to get the insight from the researchers at HP Labs. Be sure to check it out!
