By Kate Davis, @KateAtHP, WW Marketing Manager, HP Software-Defined Storage

Software_defined_storage_RGB_blue_NT.pngThere’s a change happening in data centers and IT rooms across the globe: servers are now housing more applications along with storage and networking functionality. This change wouldn’t be happening without the enhanced capabilities of today’s servers. Servers are the heart of any data center and with the latest Intel Xeon technology they are more powerful, capable of handling just about anything you throw at them, especially software-defined storage. And today, I have two new items to announce.

Get the Short Take on HP’s Software-Defined Storage News

By Kate Davis, @KateAtHP, WW Marketing Manager, HP Software-Defined Storage

This is a busy time of year for the software-defined storage team with product announcements and prep for VMworld. As you may have seen yesterday from either the press release or Calvin’s blog we had a number of enhancements to talk about for our VSAs and Management tools.

Calvin’s been after me for a while to get some ShortTake’s done around our SDS products and so this announcement was the perfect opportunity for me to dive in to that task. I’ve completed 3 to start, that offer a high-level overview of our news coverage.

Software-Defined Storage: You have questions, we have answers

By Kate Davis, @KateAtHP, WW Marketing Manager, HP Software-Defined Storage

Even after two years of talking about Software-Defined Storage, basic questions are still being asked within the IT community about what it is and what is does. So I thought I’d share a couple of items that may help answer some questions you may have: A new IDC brief with the Top 5 questions customers are asking about SDS and a recent video interview at HP Discover with our Marketing VP, Craig Nunes.

By Kate Davis, @KateAtHP, WW Marketing Manager, HP Software-Defined Storage

SDS1.jpgThere’s just a couple of weeks left until HP Discover in Las Vegas. If you haven’t already started perusing the session catalog now’s the time to do that. I wanted to share with you all what sessions and demos we will have that are focused on Software-Defined Storage. We will have a bunch of product experts in attendance delivering Discover theater sessions, business and technical breakouts, hands-on labs, demos and a discussion forum. Check out this article for the full run down.

The market leader and the market newbie: a Software-Defined Storage comparison

By Kate Davis, @KateAtHP, WW Marketing Manager, HP Software-Defined Storage

Market_Piechart.pngIt’s been a year since I wrote my first article on Software-Defined Storage. At that time we were at the definition stage – what does the Software-Defined Storage (SDS) term mean, and what products fit that category. Since then, the term SDS has become widely known and accepted but what's been missing is the market data, but Wikibon fixed that last Friday as they released their first report of the Server SAN market.

What else has been missing?  A blog from me that offers a compare of HP StoreVirtual VSA and VMware VSAN. Well, the wait is over.
