X5000 G2 Review by Windows IT Pro

X5000.jpgLate last week, I noticed an article about the X5000 in my Google Alerts - a review of the new X5000 by Windows IT Pro.  Since I had written a blog post about those updates to our X5000 a couple of weeks ago, I made a mental note to do a blog post on this.  Well, if you know me very well, making mental notes is never is not a good idea.  Fortunately, I got another Google Alert pointing to a blog post by Scott Johnson.  I've got to know Scott a bit over the last year and had him in the first X5000 blog post (a video) I did from HP Discover in June 2011.

News for SMB: Update to the X5000

HP has an SMB focused announcement this morning.  There are a number of things being announced around our focus of simple IT solutions for SMB.  I won't try to cover all of the news here since there really is a lot here and much of it isn't storage focused. There is an page where you can read about everything being announced today.and Lisa Wolfe who leads our SMB strategy for storage, servers, and networking (now called Enterprise Group at HP) has a blog post that talks more about the announcement.

One of the announcements made was updates to the X5000.  The X5000 is a great example of making IT simple and is a product I love to talk about.  I have a video from HP Discover in Vienna (from December 2011) that shows a bit more about the X5000.

The X5000 Network Storage System at HP Discover

Yesterday I had a blog post and video with Nina Kuepers talking a bit about E5000 Messaging System for Exchange; as I said in yesterday's video, I wanted to have Nina, a self-described girl in IT, give me an overview of the X5000.  After we did the E5000 video, we walked over to the X5000 booth at HP Discover and did this second video.  I had fun with Nina doing these videos and suggested that if she moves to the U.S. I would have her be my co-host for my video blogs.  Wouldn't that be fun!

Storage announcements at HP DISCOVER

Today at HP Discover in Vienna, Austria we made a couple of announcements.  I’m really excited about the first one – the new HP StoreOnce B6200 Backup System.  The B6200 is built on our converged storage strategy and uses deduplication technology.  There is some pretty cool features in the B6200:
