Another HP Tech Talk: Storage for small and midsize business

Last week, I shared an HP Tech Talk focused on software-defined storage with Kate Davis.  Today, I have another HP Tech Talk with SDRNews host Andy McCaskey.  The topic of this HP Tech Talk is storage for small and midsize business.

A few weeks ago I shared a blog post that gave an update on HP Simply StoreIT - a program we have that is focused on storage for SMB's.  Shannah Thompson is the brains behind that program and I was able to get her to talk to Andy.  Here's the show:

We have a Simply StoreIT website that has tons more information for customers including an overview (be sure to check out the program overview brochure) and more details on each of the five solution areas - and if you want to learn more about each of those solutions, check out the Simply StoreIT Overview ChalkTalk I did that has links to all of the solutions.

And don't forget, if you haven't signed up for the December 9th webcast, do it now!

HP Tech Talk talks software-defined storage and StoreVirtual VSA

Last May, I had a blog post telling you about HP Tech Talk, a new weekly show we're doing with Andy McCaskey from  The show covers topics across storage, cloud, servers, and networking.  I fell a bit behind and didn't line up storage guests for Andy to interview over the last couple months but I finally got on the ball and Andy posted the latest HP Tech Talk with Kate Davis, giving an update on HP StoreVirtual Storage and software-defined storage.

Here's the interview Andy did with Kate - it's about 12 minutes long.

HP Tech Talk features new HP ProLiant MicroServer Gen8

mza_599987174910224137_170x170-75.jpgBack in May I told you about our new HP Tech Talk - a weekly webcast with Andy McCaskey from SDRnews.  It's a show that focuses on defining the new style of IT and covers topics like storage, servers, networking, and cloud.  In fact, I was on a show Andy recorded today with Dan Molina, CTO of Nth Generation.  That show should be out early next week.

Today I wanted to point you to the latest HP Tech Talk that covers the topic of the new HP ProLiant MicroServer Gen8.  We announced this little guy at our HP Discover press conference.  Andy talks with Greg Starks from our ProLiant team and Greg shares some great insights about the new MicroServer.

This was the 10th show and if you want to check the others out, got to Andy's HP Tech Talk page on

Deep dive on HP 3PAR StoreServ 7450 all-flash array

Blogger Coffee Talk.jpgI'm back home and while HP Discover was exhausting, I wish we were still there in the company of the 30+ independent bloggers we hosted.  I had a great time with them and as always is the case, meeting with such a smart group of bloggers helps me to think deeper.

Blogger coffee talk

One of the things we offer for attending bloggers is the option to meet with HP executives and experts to go deep on topics.  At our storage coffee talk, I was able to have David Scott, Sr. VP and GM of HP Storage and Siamak Nazari, HP Fellow, HP 3PAR architect, and an original employee at 3PAR talk to our bloggers.  Instead of giving you a single 60 minute podcast, I pulled out part of the discussion they had about the new HP 3PAR StoreServ 7450 all-flash array.

How software is like bacon: a menu of uses for StoreVirtual VSA

By Kate Davis, @KateAtHP, WW Product Marketing Manager, HP StoreVirtual Storage

KateDavis.jpgI've seen several questions floating around about how best to use VSA. Where should I use it? Does it go everywhere
or are there key areas? Is it for large infrastructures or just for small deployments? Does it replace all array hardware?
So I think the best way to explain its uses is to compare it to how we use bacon. Yes, bacon. . . seems logical, right? Trust me, it will work. Because software is just like bacon. Here's what I mean. . .
