Consider it a cure for management headaches: HP OneView for Microsoft System Center

By Ankit Jain, Sr. Product Manager, HP Storage

Unified manageability with HP OneView for Microsoft System Center

Troubled with too many disparate management tools to keep a watch on your Microsoft System Center deployments? Is monitoring the relevant pieces of your infrastructure becoming more complex with multiple hand-offs between server, storage and networking teams when you would rather focus on the increasing demands of your business?

HP now provides a comprehensive integration for Microsoft environments via HP OneView for Microsoft System Center (OV4SC) to simplify manageability with a single infrastructure management platform through Microsoft System Center.

HP OneView and 3PAR StoreServ – Awards pile up as milestones fly by

By Lee Kaminski, HP Storage

HP OneView and 3PAR StoreServ continue to receive great awards and hit amazing milestones. Sure, the awards are great but more importantly, our users are realizing the benefits of converged infrastructure and the New Style of IT.

A few months back, I blogged about the astounding user adoption of HP OneView. Today I have sonenew news: since that time an even more astounding number of new users have started to realize the benefits of the New Style of IT and converged infrastructure. HP OneView has now passed the 100,000-license milestone and is installed in more than 80 countries.

Deploy HP StoreOnce VSA from VMware vCenter demo

One of my favorite types of videos to do is a demo video.  I still love the ChalkTalks and ShortTakes but demos are great because they really show how something works.

Today I want to share with you a demo I have.  HP OneView for VMware vCenter (OV4VC for short) integrates the manageability features of HP OneView, HP ProLiant, HP BladeSystem, HP Virtual Connect and HP Storage into the VMware vCenter Server console. By integrating HP Converged Infrastructure management features directly into VMware vCenter Server, administrators get insight and control of their HP infrastructure supporting their virtualized infrastructure  - reducing the time it takes to make important change decisions, manage planned and unplanned downtime and do lifecycle management.

In OV4VC v 7.5, which was just released late last week, we have introduced the ability to deploy HP StoreOnce VSA from a vCenter console.  With a few simple clicks, you can tranform existing server capacity into HP Software-Defined Storage for data protection. The process to do it is very simple and similar to deploying StoreVirtual VSA with vCenter (see the blog post with a demo I did of that a few months ago).

HP OneView for vCenter demo

VMworld kicked off last night with the Solution Exchange Welcome Reception - and Andrew Mayne didn't disappoint!  Check out the post that went up last night, Real magic from HP Storage at VMworld.

Before VMworld, my lab team gave me access our development infrastructure and I was able to capture a demo of our new HP OneView for vCenter plug-in.  In this demo, you'll see that you can now from vCenter, deploy and provision HP StoreVirtual VSA.

It's going to be a busy day at VMworld.  If you're at Moscone in San Francisco, here are a few things to help you stay connected with HP Storage:

  • We'll have Lightning Labs and short session in our HP Storage for the Software-Defined Data Center Booth (Booth 417).  I'll be hanging around here when I'm not doing other things so stop buy, get an espresso, and hear about some of the things that have me so excited.
  • Today at 1 PM, we'll have one of the first VMworld sessions on vVols.  It's session number STO2554-SPO and the title is Zooming In: How VMware Virtual Volumes (vVols) Will Provide Shared Storage with X-ray Vision.  This session has been moved to a bigger room 3 times so it's going to be really popular.  Sign up and here what VMware and HP are doing around vVols.  BTW, HP 3PAR is the FC development platform for vVols at VMware.
  • Andrew Mayne will be making appearances around VMworld again today.  See him from 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM in the Yerba Buena Gardens and4:00 PM – 4:30 PM HP Storage Booth #417.

Off for a busy day at VMworld!

HP OneView v 1.1 demo from HP Discover

At the HP Discover press conference, SVP and GM of Converged Systems Tom Joyce had a great demo of HP OneView v 1.1.  I was able to capture it with my video camera and thought it was worth sharing.  It's a very quick flyby of OneView but this did a gerat job of making it real for me.  Here's the video:
