1TB Free StoreVirtual VSA

A few weeks ago, we made an announcement about 1TB Free StoreVirtual VSA.  Today I have a ShortTake that I want to share. Kate Davis had previously posted an article about the free 1TB but this ShortTake on YouTube has become my most watch video ever - over a 155,000 views as I write this post so I want to share it on the blog.

Let me give you a short recap of the free 1TB VSA:

  1. All HP ProLiant Gen9 server models now come standard with a 1TB StoreVirtual VSA license. To make it easy to deploy, we’ve built in the installation of VSA software into the Intelligent Provisioning feature of the servers. Here's a link to a demo I did showing this.
  2. HP and Intel have partnered up to make sure everyone has an opportunity to try out Software-defined storage with our StoreVirtual VSA for themselves. Starting now, anyone who buys a new Intel Xeon E5 processor-based server, regardless of vendor, can get a free 1TB license of StoreVirtual VSA. You just need to register to unlock your free 1TB StoreVirtual VSA storage, then download the VSA software and license key. Or you ask your channel partner to do it for you.

Hello hyper-converged with HP StoreVirtual

With VMworld Barcelona in full swing, I have some news to share today. HP is announcing a new hyper-converged solution, HP Converged System 200-HC StoreVirtual, that will help customers rapidly deploy virtualized environment like never before.

The hyper-converged CS 200 with StoreVirtual VSA is a virtualization platform that seamlessly combines compute and storage. It is designed to simplify the deployment of applications - from mixed virtualized workloads to business-critical applications to virtual desktops - with all-inclusive enterprise class features and performance. This exciting new product allows you to go from power-on to provisioning within 15 minutes. I've got a ShortTake with Jessica Burton and we'll be talking more about it on ATSB in the coming days and weeks. For now, here's the ShortTake.

You can get more information by going to hp.com/go/hyper-converge note the page might not be live until around 6 AM EDT today. Also check out the live video from VMworld where Director of Product Management Rob Strechay will be presenting on today at 11:30 AM Barcelona time, 5:30 AM EDT (ok - that's early!) and Wednesday at 2:30 PM Barcelona time, 8:30 AM EDT.  I have a blog post from a couple of days ago that has a live video feed from VMworld where you can watch so check it out.

What's new (and coming) with HP StoreVirtual

Part of our pre-VMworld announcement was focused on Software-Defined Storage - and Kate Davis did a great job giving you those details.  But I love when I have someone from our product team come to me and say, "Hey, can I do something on the blog?" Jessica Burton is on our StoreVirtual team and volunteered to do a ShortTake giving a bit more on what we announced with StoreVirtual.  I usually post these as a podcast with slides on SlideShare, but today I want to give you the YouTube version - because I haven't uploaded the podcast yet!  The ShortTake speaks for itself so I'll just give it to watch for yourself.

Get the Short Take on HP’s Software-Defined Storage News

By Kate Davis, @KateAtHP, WW Marketing Manager, HP Software-Defined Storage

This is a busy time of year for the software-defined storage team with product announcements and prep for VMworld. As you may have seen yesterday from either the press release or Calvin’s blog we had a number of enhancements to talk about for our VSAs and Management tools.

Calvin’s been after me for a while to get some ShortTake’s done around our SDS products and so this announcement was the perfect opportunity for me to dive in to that task. I’ve completed 3 to start, that offer a high-level overview of our news coverage.
