HP VMware vExperts for 2014!

Birthday cake.jpgToday is my birthday and as I get older, celebrating a birthday really isn't a big deal.  But this year, I got some great birthday news that I've been selected as a VMware vExpert again!  And so have a number of HP colleagues of mine so I wanted to take a moment to recognize all the 2014 vExperts at HP.

I've been putting that icon next to my name in my blog posts for several years ago, though you can see I've added my own touch to show the years I've been a vExpert - but you might not know what a vExpert is.  So before I share with you this years HP vExperts, I'll tell you a bit about what it is.

What is a VMware vExpert?

Here's a really good description I found on

VMware vExpert is an honorary title VMware grants to outstanding advocates of the company's products.

image003.jpgVMware recognizes vExperts with a certificate. The certificate and title give vExperts special privileges such as access to such private betas, free licenses and exclusive events. Currently, VMware has three paths to become a vExpert: the Evangelist Path, the Customer Path and the VMware Partner Path.

Here's a picture of fellow HP vExpert Eric Siebert and I with VMware CEO Pat Gelsinger - a perk of being a vExpert is meeting VMware execs.

VMware vExperts at HP for 2013!

vmw-vexpert.jpgI was out with my son at a movie (the new Star Trek film) and when I got home, I saw a few tweets congratulating me on being named a vExpert again.  I'd been so heads down with getting ready for HP Discover, I missed the vExpert 2013 announcement.

I was first named a vExpert in 2011 and wrote a blog post about it.  I wasn't aware of anyone else at HP that was a vExpert though there may have been a couple I didn't know about.  This year, I'm pleased to see there are nine HP VMware vExperts and I wanted to briefly introduce you to them:

Catching up with vExpert and VCDX Chris Wahl at VMware PEX

Chris Wahl.pngHP along with VMware brought a few bloggers to VMworld.  I really wanted to do a podcast with all of them but I only had time to do that with a couple of them.   Chris Wahl is a vExpert, co-leads the Chicago VMUG, and is a VCDX (VMware Certified  Design Expert).  You can find him on Twitter as @chriswahl and his blog - one of the best VMware focused blogs out there - is at

A little good news when I needed it - I'm a vExpert

vmw-vexpert.jpgLate last night, I got the email telling me I'm a vExpert.  Today's post is a little bit personal - please check it out.
