In the second of a series of interviews at Professional Outsourcing with David Brown - HP’s BPO Business Development Lead in EMEA, he discusses the “The future of Shared Services in the UK Public Sector” with James Johns - HP’s Director of Strategy for UK Public Sector. David and James describe how Public Sector organisations, like private enterprise, utilize Shared Services to achieve cost savings and greater process and output standardization. But unlike the private sector who are looking to their bottom line, public entities are often aiming to repurpose the savings to focus additional resources on improving “front-line” services for citizens. David and James discuss HP’s experience in working with government organisations on successful shared services programmes to deliver real value to the taxpayer. In addition, they reviewed the success factors required for the public sector to gain value from shared services and the benefits of close collaboration with strategic BPO partners like HP.
Are there other benefits that the public sector realizes from Shared Services that differ from the private sector benefits?
