The Challenges of New Technologies in HR Services

To meet the needs and expectations of a younger workforce, one of the biggest challenges for HR and Payroll leaders is adopting new technologies to control costs, meet demand, and ensure security.  The innovation path for HR and Payroll services has not kept up with other consumer-available products and capabilities—but it will need to adapt, adopt, and transform to be effective.

In this new technology landscape, HR service providers will be expected to:HR.jpg

  • Provide software that is intuitive and simple to understand
  • Accommodate demands for self-service options
  • Offer applications that can be utilized on a wide-variety of devices

The consumerization of IT will put new pressures on buying organizations and providers to offer flexibility in interfaces, while retaining security and process standardization.  Self-service applications will have to increase efficiency without burdening the user base with tools that are so difficult to navigate they are either avoided or require an inordinate amount of time to complete.  Future managers will expect to utilize HR systems through their computing devices in yet unimagined ways.

Good points, Rachel.  People are key carriers of knowledge within the Enterprise.  Therefore, in addition to the challenge of dealing with a new breed of technologies, HR also has the challenge of garnering tribal knowledge resident within the workforce and harnessing that at an enterprise level
