Dexter’s Blog: Ssshh! Don’t tell anyone!

If you’ve ever left your computer somewhere or had it stolen, you’ll know that the first blow is the realisation that it’s missing but the second blow is worse: the realisation that a thief now has access to all your files, emails and office network connections.

Unless, of course, your notebook computer is encrypted.

Like other HP business notebooks, HP’s ElitePad 900 comes with HP ProtectTools, which includes Drive Encryption. However, if you’re dealing with especially sensitive information you may want additional reassurance.

This is where Becrypt comes in. It’s specialist encryption software that enables customers of HP’s ElitePad Windows 8 tablet to validate and secure solutions with the appropriate levels of hard disk encryption.

Becrypt DISK Protect  is available in several different accredited versions allowing Windows 8 and tablet support. It includes the latest CESG Commercial Product Assurance which means it’s certified for government use up to Impact Level 4 (or ‘confidential’ – the level below ‘secret’). In case you were wondering, CESG is part of GCHQ so they know what they’re talking about.

With all this in mind, we were really chuffed when Becrypt chose HP as its Technology Partner of the Year for 2013.
