Understand cloud financials and the value to your CFO
Many CIOs are reporting to the CFO. Many are ill prepared to face that situation and do not understand how their boss thinks. It's important for them and for the department they take the time to do so. According to an article by CFO.com, CFOs are looking for a trusted advisor in the information technology space as the world turns increasingly digital. So, this is THE time for the CIO to take that role. But what does he need to do? How does he describe the business values of IT?
Private Cloud is a Myth. Really?
Last week in a Tweeter chat one of the participants stated that "Private Cloud is a Myth." His argument was many people virtualizing their environments call them cloud. I agree with him that many people over-use the term cloud and would even dare to add that some vendors take advantage of using the word in a very loose definition. But that does not mean that private clouds do not exist, just that they may not be what some think they have in their datacenters. Starting from the definition of cloud, I explain why the private cloud not only exists, but is a critical component of a converged cloud.
