Behind the cameras: The Latest Extreme IT Makeover has Been Completed!

Earlier this week, HP, Microsoft, and Intel® worked together with SWAT Systems to complete the latest Extreme IT Makeover for InterConnection. This IT makeover will help InterConnection take the next step in their business evolution and better fulfill their mission to make information and communication technology accessible to underserved communities around the world.

InterConnection works to achieve their mission by providing computers for nonprofit and non-governmental organizations across the globe. These computers help these organizations, which are struggling to make a difference, by providing access to communication and resources. If the computers InterConnection receives cannot be reused InterConnection recycles them, keeping excess refuse from landfills.

Established in 1999, InterConnection has shipped over 35,000 computers and monitors to organizations around the world, and has properly recycled nearly 100,000 computers. Before receiving this Extreme IT Makeover, InterConnection often put their own IT infrastructure on the back burner so the non-profit organizations they served could have the best of the donated equipment.

For this Extreme IT Makeover, HP, Microsoft, and Intel® donated hardware and software to create InterConnection’s ideal IT infrastructure, which SWAT Systems designed and installed. Part of this makeover included Windows Server 2012 Standard, run on a HP ProLiant DL380p Gen8 server using Intel® Xeon® based processors. InterConnection also received HP notebooks, tablets, and desktops powered by Intel® vPro™ technology and many other great IT improvements. To learn even more about InterConnection’s IT Makeover and its benefits, be on the lookout for the next EITMO blog!
