Discover the new HP ProLiant ML350e Gen8 Server

Hello everyone!

Today, our expert Shab Madina, the WW Product Line Manager for the ML servers will going to cover the new ML350e Gen8 Server, and talk about how Gen8 innovation makes it one of the most complete servers in it's category.

The ML350e server is a two-processer tower server designed for everyday business needs, while also being expandable in order to keep up as your business grows. It is an ideal match for Windows Server operating systems.

While including the breakthrough Gen8 technologies, it is built for reliability with a strenuous testing and qualification process.

The ML350e is a workhorse that offers the best price to performance ratio.

We intend to delight our customers and partners with the Gen8 technologies included in the ML350e. Technologies that range from Active Health, which reduces trouble-shooting time, to Insight Online, which enables management as a service via the web.

With this product, we are also introducing Intel's E5-2400 Family Series processors which offer a higher core count with up to 8 CPU cores, and a blazingly fast 2.3GHz performance.

And let us give you an example of HP innovation at work.

One of the biggest reasons we've seen for system failure is due to a human error, where CPU pins are bent due to incorrect placement. Sometimes the damage is so minute that it's undetectable and therefore hard to resolve.

To prevent this from happening, we invented the Smart Socket Guide, which mechanically puts the CPU in place, greatly reducing the human factor.

Improving memory reliability and performance was another area of focus for us in Gen8. And the ML350e includes the resulting HP SmartMemory technology. This innovation allows the ML350e to operate low voltage HP SmartMemory at the same 3 DIMMs per channel that 3rd party memory requires at a higher voltage.

The ML350e can also operate UDIMM memory at a 25% faster bus rate than third party memory at the same voltage. But these features require HP Smart memory and the ML350e can identify it through a unique signature written on each DIMM. This is also important because HP SmartMemory, goes through a rigorous qualification and test process, and enables enhanced support through HP Active Health.

We've talked about CPU innovations, and Memory innovations. Why stop there?

We also took a look at hard drives to see how we could improve that experience.

The resulting HP SmartDrives improve serviceability with better drive error logging, usage logging and integration with Active Health.

Active Health allows faster issue resolution and clearer visibility to returns and failure modes.

A new Icon based display improves drive status and health indication, and again, like what we did with CPU and Memory, the "Do Not Remove" LED reduces the potential for human error by clearly marking drives that should not be pulled out.

The ML350e is designed to handle the most common business needs.

It can have up to 18 large or 24 small formfactor HDs. You have choice of the large drive model that comes standard with a 6 drive bay and can add 2 more bays for a total of 18 drive bays. Or you can choose the small drive model that comes standard with an 8 drive bay with the capability to add 2 more bays for a total of 24 bays.

With Gen8, HP has taken a big leap in embedded management, building on the legacy of iLO. The iLO Management Engine, built into ML350e comes with Intelligent Provisioning and Active Health Monitor, features that will let you speed up initial deployment, and assist you with faster issue resolution throughout the lifecycle.

And, our latest Common Slot Power Supplies have moved up the energy chart with 94% Efficiency on Intelligent Power Solutions. This improves efficiency and keeps commonality with previous generations.

Here's the key message we want you to take away:

The new ML350e redefines the two processor essential category with improved performance, higher capacities and better feature set over previous generations and competition.

* Memory has increased by 50% over G6 servers
* Storage capacity is up 125%
* A 50% increase in IO expansion over G6.
* The latest HP Smart Arrays on the Gen8 servers improve performance up to 200%.
* The iLO Management Engine speeds up deployment as well as issue resolution.
* And Key Design Innovations like Smart Socket, Smart Memory and Smart Storage that dramatically improve reliability

The ML350e is a two processor workhorse designed with features that only HP can deliver.
