Get to Know iLO Management Agent

On this Coffee Coaching session we’ll meet Zaira Noce, she´s here today to introduce you to another brand new product: HP iLO Management Engine.

Today, HP iLO is the IT administrator in every ProLiant Gen8 server.

With the introduction of the new HP’s  iLO, our customers started to take advantage of the following features:

  • Increased Performance:
    • 800% faster remote console
    • 360% faster virtual media
  • Power Management features like:
    • Measurement and Capping
  • Strong security features like:
    • 256-bit encryption, Directory Services, Kerberos and others

With the introduction of the HP ProLiant Gen 8 server line, HP takes a big leap in embedded management, building on the legacy of HP iLO.

Today we introduce HP iLO Management Engine – a suite of core lifecycle management features that will help customers manage their servers from PROVISIONING, to MONITORING, to DIAGNOSIS AND SUPPORT. And the great news is that these features are standard across all ProLiant Gen 8 servers!

Now, let’s take a look at each individual functional area of HP iLO Management Engine starting with what's new with HP iLO 4.

With HP iLO 4 customers will have a homogeneous server management experience across their datacenter with every HP ProLiant Gen 8 server.

Another cool feature is that with HP iLO 4, customers will be able to turn-on, manage, and turn-off their servers “anytime; anywhere” from their Smartphone device (currently supporting iOS and Android operating systems).

And now in addition to Japanese, we provide our customers simplified Chinese as their language of choice in the HP iLO GUI.

HP Intelligent Provisioning (previously known as SmartStart) will give customers the ability to “plug and manage” their servers out-of-the box to single-server deployment and configuration without the need for physical media.

Now tools, drivers, agents needed to setup, deploy and maintain are now embedded in the server and are right there from the moment customers power up their server.

Configuring, deploying and maintaining your system was never this easy, or this fast.

With HP iLO Management Engine in every HP ProLiant Gen8 server, the base hardware monitoring and alerting capability is built into the system (running on the HP iLO processor) and starts working the moment that a power cord and an Ethernet cable is connected to the server.

No longer are OS Agents required; most SNMP traps and alerting takes place from the HP iLO architecture.

Now let’s have a look at DIAGNOSTICS: HP Active Health System is an essential component of the HP iLO Management Engine portfolio.

The HP Active Health System monitors and records changes in the server hardware and system configuration.  It will help service and support diagnose problems and deliver rapid resolution when system failures occur.

So what are the key takeaways from this coffee coaching?

HP iLO Management Engine is a portfolio of features:

–      HP iLO; HP Agentless Management; HP Active Health System; HP Intelligent Provisioning

It will bring customers the following benefits:

–      Homogeneous server management experience

–      Reduce downtime through system resiliency

–      Simplify management through integration

–      Increase agility through automation
