HP ProLiant Gen8 iLO Management Engine Intelligent Provisioning Overview

The HP ProLiant Gen8 iLO Management Engine Intelligent Provisioning, it’s a software developed to configure server hardware, install your OS, and perform maintenance. It’s important to address that it’s embedded in your ProLiant Gen8 server or blade system.

How does it work?

It comes integrated as a flash chip on the motherboard that gets loaded with software during HP’s manufacturing process. When the server is booting, press F10 during POST and the server will boot into Intelligent Provisioning software.

It is basically a custom OS with our software that boots up just like a normal OS but only visible and accessible when you press F10 during POST.

What’s inside?

Intelligent Provisioning uses ISS’ new design language that highlights contemporary use of icons and color to streamline the provisioning process. It saves your preferences so you don’t have to set network and language every time it is used.

There is a 4 step process to configure and update your server and install the OS. And it has 9 powerful features for Maintenance.

Key improvements

  • It’s embedded.
  • Can update itself/server over the internet.
  • Gives you access to Active Health System logs and other diagnostics.
  • Makes it quick and easy to install Windows OSs and added basic support for Linux and VMware.
