HP announces compute strategy to power the next 25 years!

To keep up with the New Style of IT, HP is reimagining the server and thinking instead about compute—the vast pool of processing resources that are converge, software-defined, cloud-ready, and workload- optimized for business growth.

While the mega trends of cloud, mobility, Big Data, and security generate new business opportunities, they can also generate new business challenges for your SMB customers. Today your customers need to be able to deliver new services faster and with increased operational efficiencies in order to grow revenue, margin, and market share. Business transformations begin with compute transformations because compute is what runs the applications that run their business.

Yesterday, HP streamed an important global announcement introducing their new compute strategy and the next generation of ProLiant servers: The Gen9 portfolio.

HP’s latest compute milestone will help your customers lower IT service costs, accelerate IT service delivery time, and boost IT business value. Today’s new style of IT demands that customers think about managing their compute, storage, and networking as programmable elements that can be optimized to meet changing business needs. The good news? Gen9 servers are designed with that goal in mind!

With HP ProLiant Gen9 servers, your SMB customers benefit from more compute and storage capacity, right-sized compute with flexible choices, and lower compute energy and floor space consumption. In addition, the servers are optimized for convergence, cloud and software-defined environments, and feature new technology innovations such as:

  • HP-unique PCIe accelerators and HP DDR4 SmartMemory that increase compute capacity.
  • Converged management across servers, storage, and networking to enable a software defined enterprise.
  • Faster setup, monitoring, and firmware maintenance, with reliable, secure, and innovative embedded management, including UEFI and RESTful APIs for hybrid cloud environments.
  • HP SmartCache and HP FlexFabric adapters that deliver improved performance.

Along with many opportunities presented from HP’s new server offerings, you have a once-in-a-decade opportunity with Microsoft’s planned end of support for Windows Server 2003 on July 14, 2015. Over the next year, more than 9M servers will need to be upgraded to ensure business continuity for large and small companies around the world. That is more than 25,000 new servers every day for the next year. Make sure your customers still running WS2003 have your migration plans, and take the time to discuss their future IT needs to ensure they are prepared for the New Style of IT. While a product end of life can be expensive, disruptive, and full of risk, it doesn’t have to be! With HP, you can transition your customers cost-effectively, quickly, and with confidence.
