Support Matrix Updated to Include the Newest Microsoft Operating Systems (WS 2012 R2)

Whether you are just starting to design, or have recently completed designing, the perfect server architecture for your customer, HP and Microsoft want you to have confidence in your decisions. To ensure this, HP tests and certifies their servers with each Windows Server operating system. And, to help customers even more, there is a useful tool, The Certification and Support Matrix for Windows. This tool allows users to see which HP ProLiant servers are compatible and certified with each operating system offering from Microsoft. The Certification and Support Matrix for Windows has been updated to include information on compatibility and certification for Windows Server 2012 R2.

The Certification and Support Matrix for Windows tool can be quite helpful to those who are planning a new IT infrastructure or who are wanting to update an existing infrastructure. Today, we will look at how this tool works, and what you can learn from it.

When The Certification and Support Matrix is opened, you will first see the legend located above the matrix. The legend is a very important part of this tool, as it will tell you what the symbols on the matrix stand for, and what each one means.

These symbols are:

-          HP Supported: HP will provide technical support for HP ProLiant server drivers and ProLiant management software that are compatible with the operating system

-          HP Supported & OS Partner Certified/Logo: Server has met the OS Partner Certified/Logo program requirements. HP will provide technical support for HP ProLiant server drivers and ProLiant management software that are compatible with the operating system

-          HP Tested: The OS was successfully installed on the server

Right below the legend, you will see several tables identifying the different Microsoft Operating Systems. Here is where you will choose the Microsoft Operating System that you wish to pair with your HP Server. Once you select a specific Microsoft Operating System, the matrix will display the different HP ProLiant server families (from the MicroServer to the SL family) and which of these servers is HP Supported and HP Supported & OS Partner Certified/Logo.

Under the operating system tables, you will also see a link for “Previous Servers.” This link can be very useful when you, or your customers, have an older HP ProLiant hardware, and you wish to verify its compatibility with the software you plan to install.

We hope The Certification and Support Matrix will be a very helpful tool for you and your customers. Learn more about HP ProLiant servers and Windows Server operating systems and join the Coffee Coaching community by following us on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and LinkedIn.
