99% reduction in installation times speeds time-to-business-value while doubling annual revenues
In this case study, I’m highlighting how Converged Infrastructure technologies accelerate BUSINESS VALUE. After all, this is what IT is supposed to do – deliver value so the business can compete effectively and adapt quickly.
In this example, Intransa was looking to migrate customers from analog video surveillance to IP-based services to allow true 24x7x365 operation in a reliable, scalable form factor. Intransa provides solutions for video surveillance, industrial video, access control, video analytics, and other physical security needs. They actually have a very unique IT need when designing IT solutions within the video surveillance industry. The nature of their business is continuous video recording, which means high volumes of data are constantly being written. In fact, typical video surveillance is 98 percent recording and only 2 percent playback. It’s not a typical IT workload for an infrastructure to handle, but it does require the most reliable, standards-based technololgy.
“Our job is to hide complexity from the customer and just
make it run automatically in the background. And because
our technology interfaces so well with HP, we can deliver a
successful product that, to the end user, just runs smoothly.”
“We’ve eliminated all the pre-bench time, so users no longer
have to spend two to three days of integration work getting
the server connected to the storage and the camera
management systems at their site. This means our solution
can be installed in a few minutes instead of several days.”
Jeff Whitney, Vice President of Marketing, Intransa
What most impressed me is that Intransa has doubled its revenue in each of the two years since it introduced its video appliance family. For their customers, the integrated software-hardware-virtualization solution means they can get their job done without worrying about what’s going on inside the box. What they see is a very simple and easy-to-deploy appliance that’s ready right out of the box.
Other benefits include:
- 99% reduction in installation times, speeding time to value
- Simplified management interface through behind-the-scenes virtualization
- 20% reduction projected in support calls, increasing service levels at customer sites
- Up to 70% reduction in power usage for customers
- 24x7x365 reliability for video surveillance application, increasing customer confidence
The HP Converged Infrastructure technologies included in this solution are HP ProLiant servers, HP Storage, HP Networking, and easy management with HP Insight Control. It’s really a story of how customers can gain the value and power of convergence by deploying technology building blocks that have all been designed for convergence. That means Intransa gets tremendous value today ... and as demand changes or new products or appliances are added, they can quickly add or modify the back-end technology so they can speed time creating and delivering innovation for their clients.
