CI-small.jpgIn this case study, I’m highlighting how Converged Infrastructure technologies accelerate BUSINESS VALUE. After all, this is what IT is supposed to do – deliver value so the business can compete effectively and adapt quickly.

 

In this example, Intransa was looking to migrate customers from analog video surveillance to IP-based services to allow true 24x7x365 operation in a reliable, scalable form factor. Intransa provides solutions for video surveillance, industrial video, access control, video analytics, and other physical security needs. They actually have a very unique IT need when designing IT solutions within the video surveillance industry. The nature of their business is continuous video recording, which means high volumes of data are constantly being written. In fact, typical video surveillance is 98 percent recording and only 2 percent playback. It’s not a typical IT workload for an infrastructure to handle, but it does require the most reliable, standards-based technololgy.

What most impressed me is that Intransa has doubled its revenue in each of the two years since it introduced its video appliance family. For their customers, the integrated software-hardware-virtualization solution means they can get their job done without worrying about what’s going on inside the box. What they see is a very simple and easy-to-deploy appliance that’s ready right out of the box.
