Converged Infrastructure

Do you need to deploy Red Hat virtualization on an optimized and flexible architecture?

By Alain Inugai - HP Converged Systems

The HP Converged Systems Reference Architecture for Red Hat on VirtualSystem VS3 is an enterprise architecture designed to support Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization on HP VirtualSystem VS3 Foundation

Now supporting Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization (RHEV) 3.2, the virtualization layer provides increased agility with improved security features.  Windows and Linux workloads are now supported  along with Storage Live Migration that allows VM image movement.   RHEV 3.2 supports enhancements to power, storage and networking management that nicely complement the capabilities of HP VirtualSystem VS3 Foundation 2.2.

HP VirtualSystem VS3 builds a high-performance platform to consolidate and provision hundreds to thousands of workloads reducing OpEX while providing extremely high availability at all levels – from the underlying network and storage fabrics up to the virtual machine (VM) layer.

HP VirtualSystem VS3 delivers a virtualized infrastructure, with integrated software, hardware, services, and support – all delivered as a single, proven solution delivering a broad range of benefits, including the following:

  • Simplified: HP VirtualSystem VS3 is an easy-to-order, complete, pre-configured solution designed for rapid implementation with minimal risk. This solution is designed to grow in a modular fashion, giving you the ability to expand the configuration as your business grows.
  • Optimized: HP VirtualSystem VS3 is performance-tested for typical workloads and designed from the ground up to interoperate at the highest performance levels with select virtualization and cloud management platforms. By using HP Converged Infrastructure to provide core building blocks, HP VirtualSystem VS3 is also able to offer exceptional power and cooling efficiency, as well as the capabilities of HP integrated management to manage the solution.
  • Flexible:  As your needs evolve, the modular configuration of HP VirtualSystem allow you to expand storage, compute, or networking components independently. This flexibility allows you to order the configuration that is best for you – whether you are just starting out or you are expanding an already large data center; then continue to grow this original configuration on an as-needed basis over the lifecycles of your virtualized applications.

By leveraging this reference architecture document, you can quickly implement open-source virtualization based on Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization providing the performance, high availability that you require in your deployments.  The design of HP VirtualSystem provides your organization the flexibility needed to select the optimal configuration for your workloads while selecting the support service level that best maps with your organizational strategy allowing IT to focus on core business needs rather than infrastructure.
