HP Expands Options for Converged Infrastructure to Hyper-V

By Guest blogger Ken Spear, Product Marketing, HP Converged Systems

Choice is good - especially when it makes things simpler while providing you with greater flexibility.

HP is committed to providing customers with greater flexibility while delivering fast time to value. In June, we introduced the HP ConvergedSystem 700x (CS700x) for Microsoft  – a new ConvergedSystem model which complements the CS700x for VMware vSphere. The CS700x for Virtualization is an easy to deploy, flexible system that addresses your needs now and into the future. It is scalable and extensible to the VMware, Microsoft or HP cloud management platforms. This solution drives out complexity with optimized performance, high availability and manageability for any virtualized application. You get increased agility with lower OpEx.

CS700.pngThe HP and Microsoft engineering teams worked closely together on the CS700x for Microsoft Hyper-V product offering. This has resulted in application programming interfaces (APIs) and other cross-intellectual property (IP) offerings designed to minimize complexity and simplify management and interaction. For example, the CS700x for Microsoft Hyper-V has been architected to conform to the Microsoft Fast Track 4.0 specification. The ConvergedSystem 700x for Virtualization has been tested for typical workloads and is designed from the ground up to interoperate at the highest performance levels with select virtualization and cloud management platforms.

The HP ConvergedSystem 700x for Virtualization employs HP 3PAR StoreServ Storage. It has been designed and optimized internally for virtualization, infrastructure as a service (IaaS) and cloud environments. The networking in the CS700x for Virtualization provides the option of utilizing a single Virtual Connect domain via Virtual Connect stacking links or multiple Virtual Connect domains without the use of stacking links. As part of the traffic isolation scheme, HP VLANs are implemented based on Microsoft best practices. As a result, you can run workloads with confidence in a Hyper-V environment and know that all the system components – server, storage and networking - have been optimized.

The Benefits of HP OneView for Microsoft

HP OneView is now available for download as a self-contained virtual appliance for running Microsoft Hyper-V virtual machine (delivered as a ZIP file) as well as in a VMware ESXi virtual machine (delivered in OVA format). The appliance can be downloaded and installed in a matter of minutes. HP OneView management software provides a 60-day free trial use. Once the HP OneView management appliance is set up, you can add and use supported HP ProLiant, BladeSystem, ConvergedSystem and 3PAR storage infrastructure for the next 60 days.

You can take advantage HP OneView from your Microsoft System Center console. Routine tasks, such as provisioning Hyper-V clusters, can be done in five easy steps that take only a fraction of the time than what was required in the past.*

Read this blog with a video demo that shows you the power of the integration between System Center and HP OneView. And if you’d like more information, register today for a live webinar on August 27: HP OneView for Microsoft System Center.
