HP Service Delivery: Stories from the Superstorm

Looking back at HP’s immediate response to the disaster in the Northeast, I see so much to be proud of.


 Proactively, before the hurricane hit, we put some employees up in hotels so they’d be safe and wouldn’t have to travel too far, just walk across the street to a customer datacenter. Many hotels flooded. In one, in Jersey City, an HP employee was put up on the fourth floor with about 200 other people in a ballroom. They were given blankets and flashlights and waited out the storm.


One engineer slept at his desk in a customer datacenter because he couldn’t get across the street to his hotel, and he wanted to make sure that if anything happened he would be there for the customer.


First and foremost, of course, our concern is for employee safety. Now everyone is safe, and they know their families are back home safe, and our employees are going above and beyond to do everything they can to get our customers’ facilities up and running. It’s a true testimony to HP employees and the unconditional, round-the-clock support we have from upper management and above; it’s just phenomenal. We’re a technology company, but, of course, our most important asset is, and always will be, our people – along with our customers.
