Easy on Ramp to Cloud

Your organization sees the benefits of the cloud and you would like to start your transition, but you’re concerned about the best way to get started. HP offers an easy on ramp that can help you accelerate your journey. The HP CloudSystem was designed to make it simple to offer Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and other cloud services quickly and easily.

Today HP announced a new entry-level package called CloudSystem Foundation.  It offers basic IaaS and empowers your organization to use cloud to accelerate innovation and reduce costs quickly and easily. Rather than rack and wire, configure and install individual components, Foundation arrives ready to run. The software is implemented in a pre-integrated appliance, so it can be deployed by HP experts in a matter of hours. And because CloudSystem is one of the HP ConvergedSystem products, you benefit from reliability, easy ordering and fast delivery.

Foundation leverages the strength of HP Cloud OS, HP’s enterprise-grade implementation of OpenStack. As a major contributor to the OpenStack community, HP delivers innovation to each release of the architecture. CloudSystem Foundations includes the following OpenStack service offerings: Nova (compute), Cinder (block storage volumes), Neutron (networking), Keystone (identity), Glance (image) and Horizon (dashboard).

We added HP OneView, our new platform for managing converged infrastructure, to CloudSystem Foundation and a workflow engine to make standard administrative tasks much faster and easier. As a result, we are able to deliver highly integrated Infrastructure as a Service that features the following:

  • Push-button activation of compute nodes with full integration into your cloud environment
  • Push-button activation of HP 3PAR StoreServ arrays for storage volume services, including quality of service control capabilities
  • Out-of-the-box networking service, which leverages HP SDN networking technology to dynamically create highly available and scalable private VM networks
  • Horizon-based dashboard that allows users to request VM services, as well as enables administrators to manage objects such as instances, images, quotas, storage volumes, networks and routers

CloudSystem Foundation offers an effective starting point. If your organization wants to offer more advanced infrastructure services as well as applications services, then HP CloudSystem Enterprise is your best option.

The next generation of CloudSystem Enterprise introduced today by HP offers all the capabilities of CloudSystem Foundation to deliver core infrastructure services, plus:

  • Enterprise-class lifecycle management for hybrid cloud services
  • Service Marketplace, making it easy for consumers to request cloud services
  • Drag-and-drop designer for rapidly defining new multi-tier cloud services
  • Pre-defined service catalog entries for popular applications, with more than 200 HP Cloud Maps
  • Integrated capacity planning, disaster recovery, and bursting to public clouds

You can easily upgrade from CloudSystem Foundation to CloudSystem Enterprise in a few hours with the wizard-driven installation of a software appliance. This allows you to start where you want on your journey to the cloud. There is no vendor lock-in, because CloudSystem supports the broadest range of hypervisors.CloudSystem Icon Text.png

CloudSystem Enterprise provides you with one hybrid cloud management platform to manage all your cloud services—existing services in your own cloud, new services you choose to build with HP Cloud OS, and services you get from public clouds. Expanded support for bursting to public clouds includes HP Public Cloud, Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, and selected HP CloudAgile service providers. It is also designed to use the same management practices for your traditional and cloud environments. CloudSystem easily integrates with the HP Hybrid Cloud Management platform, including service-level and operations management, charge back and billing, security and backup, as well as third-party software.
