Sharks Rule at HP Discover Barcelona

Written by Paul Gavin, Product Marketing Manager, HP Converged Systems

Sharks tend to create excitement whenever they’re around and this phenomenon was no exception at HP Discover Barcelona!  After spending 3 busy days at the HP ConvergedSystem for Virtualization booth and presenting to several HP focus groups, I gauged the excitement levels as VERY HIGH!

The HP ConvergedSystem 300 and 700 booths were packed during the event and in my experience were the busiest areas I have ever supported at a trade show. The bright blue lights on the ConvergedSystem 700 rack attracted a lot of attention as well as the display of the internal components. Many customers took photographs of the units and themselves next to them! Everyone was impressed by the design and compactness of the unit and questions varied from “How quickly can I get this?” to “How will I be able to manage this in my environment?”CSVirtresized.jpg

Tom Joyce’s keynote with the Shark images and the powerful messages of simple to buy, fast delivery with a single vendor support model made sure there was a constant line of people waiting to ask questions about the new HP ConvergedSystem for Virtualization.

There were lots of real time discussions on the design criteria for the system and how to estimate the # of VM’s that can be supported. I pointed people to the hp.com/go/convergedsystems/virtualization web page that contains links to the documentation for these systems. I also pointed people to hp.com/go/activeanswers that contains more technical details including architecture documentation and a virtualization sizing tool that will tell you the optimal ConvergedSystem to buy based on your compute and I/O requirements and more.

Overall, the HP ConvergedSystem 700, 700x and 300 for Virtualization were stars of the show and should be evaluated as a key component of your virtualization strategy. Watch this video and see for yourself!

Happy Holidays! I'll see you in 2014!
