Converged Infrastructure

“The New Style of IT” – you’ve heard the term, but what does it really mean?

I noticed Duncan Campbell (VP Solution Marketing, HP Enterprise Group) started an HP Converge Infrastructure blog series that he kicked off with the topic of What are you doing to prepare your company for the new style of IT convergence”?  ...

... This got me thinking ...

Although you probably have heard something about what HP calls “The New Style of IT”, I decided that you might need a little more substance and context behind what this really means for Enterprise IT infrastructures and convergence.  Thus, this blog is about providing you with a few easy to absorb resources that include HP senior leaders sharing more about “The New Style of IT” and what it means to them and why.

I hope this helps:

Q&A with Forrester:

HOT OF THE PRESS – Aug 22nd) ... J. P. Gownder (VP and Principal Analyst at Forrester Research) spent some Q&A time with Stephen DeWitt (SVP, Enterprise Marketing at HP). In JP’s blog post, Stephen shares HP’s overall vision for enterprise solutions, a little about some of the recent changes at HP, and HP’s viewpoint on consumerization << a concept you will hear much more about in the future.

I personally look at the need for a new style of IT like this:

The speed of the world is almost incomprehensible; with everything interconnected at all levels. Businesses are looking to capitalize on all this before their competitors do [or to keep up with them].  Who’s on the hook for all of this?  IT.  That is why the IT infrastructure needs to be simple, smart, fast, nimble, and business-aligned like never seen before. And that is what the new style of IT is all about to me.

I hoped this helped provide some clarity around the notion of “The New Style of IT”. And why the next generation HP Converged Infrastructure is aligned to power this new style of business.  Keep your eyes out for future Duncan Campbell blogs that will take us deeper into the world of Converged Infrastructure.

Thanks for listening,

Russ
