The science behind the simplicity of HP OneView—Part three

try-it-free-305x246.jpgIn this third post in our series on HP OneView, we get into the nuts and bolts of what went into developing HP’s new systems management tool. To get a better understanding of how HP OneView was built (and how to get started) I asked Bryan Jacquot, HP Distinguished Technologist to explain development and deployment. Here’s what he had to say.

The science behind the simplicity of HP OneView—Part two

OV.pngPerhaps the best view of HP OneView is the part you can’t see. HP’s new systems management tool rolls four years of customer input and HP innovation into a solid task-driven package that redefines systems management. To understand the essential differences, I sat in on a briefing by HP Converged System’s Jeff Carlat, Director of Project Management and Bryan Jacquot, Distinguished Technologist.

In this second post in the series, Jeff Carlat how HP OneView was developed around a single question—What’s stopping you from working faster and more efficiently?

Here’s what he had to say.

Quick tips on understanding the VALUE & DIFFERENCE of HP OneView for infrastructure mgmt.

As the interest mounts with HP OneView, I decided a blog that made it easier, faster, and informative to gain a bit more depth and 'comparative view' was in order. I hope this helps.

In this first post in this series Jeff Carlat covers what makes HP OneView different from other lifecycle management solutions.

Do your infrastructure management tools have you relying on last century’s technologies?

Using a smartphone, you can get directions in just about any well-developed area of the U.S. and then quickly link to online info about your destination (unless you are in the United States National Radio Quiet Zone, in which case you’re stuck with dial-up service).  However in your data center, you use traditional infrastructure management tools -- it’s as if you’ve wandered into that quiet zone and are forced to rely on last century’s technology.

When it comes to infrastructure convergence do you have a best of breed technology blind spot?

Guest blog written by: Scott Wood, Vice President, HP US Solution Architects

In many information technology organizations technologist will often identify their role or position by the technology brand.  There are many reasons why this identification happens. It would be completely natural for people to become defensive and put their positions, jobs, or value to the organization above the solution decision.  This brand bias can lead a company to continue down the best of breed approach in opposition to more important business goals.

Is SIMPLIFYING IT realistic when 100s, even 1000s of apps bog you down? There is a better way.

Does this sound like you:  Hundreds of applications to manage, deliver, add, and change; more and more clamoring business demand; and, lots of technology solution considerations. As I ‘peel back’ the infrastructure convergence onion, my next topic is to start talking about the ‘app-centric’ approach (and solutions) required to simplify and align IT to the speed of the business – for any workload at any scale.
