The essential reflection – Converged Systems buzz from HP Discover
Over the last couple of years a consistent and popular session at HP Discover has been Jeffrey Katzenberg, CEO of Dreamworks, talking about his company’s relationship with HP and showing some of the latest groundbreaking animation including Shrek, Kung Fu Panda and Madagascar.
Tuesday? No exception.
First, Meg Whitman outlined HP’s strategy and explained how Cloud, Social, Mobile and Big Data are changing the way technology is consumed and delivered. As a result of this new style of technology, customers are presented with major opportunities through better agility, access to information and the ability to make faster, better decisions. This can of course be a blessing or a curse, depending on how quickly they seize the initiative and whether they can be their industry’s disruptive force or are the ones being disrupted by change.

New Apache Hadoop solutions from HP help you capitalize on Big Data
You won’t be surprised to hear that data continues to grow at an alarming rate. In fact in 2011, 1.8 Zettabytes of data was created and that number will rise to 35 Zettabytes by 2020.
Today’s 1.8 Zettabytes are coming from many places: from social media sites, digital images and video to online transaction records and beyond. Multiple devices, platforms and data sources make capturing, storing and managing data difficult and complex. Existing approaches weren’t designed to support the volume of data generated by companies today and are even less equipped to take advantage of this information for actionable business insight.
That’s why the latest announcement from HP at Discover 2012 in Las Vegas on Monday 4th June is so exciting.
