Why HP Smart Choice is the Right Choice for Customers and partners: HP’s Chuck Smith

Chuck Smith is Vice President of Strategic Growth and Business Development for HP Servers within HP’s Enterprise Group. He’s well known as a strong HP “Channel Champion” and is spearheading the HP Project Smart Choice initiative. I recently had the opportunity to discuss his point of view about IBM and Lenovo, find out about why he’s excited about Project Smart Choice and see why HP has a well-earned reputation as a “Channel Champion” in the industry.

Is IBM travelling in the same direction as your business?

The sale of IBM’s x86 server division to Lenovo for $2.3 billion has caused many previously loyal customers to look for an alternative technology partner. At HP, we’re doing everything we can to help ease the transition based on our innovative technology designed to enable better business outcomes, extensive multi-vendor experience and global support presence.

IBM customers are already feeling the pain of the x86 server acquisition by Lenovo. Are you?

The deal hasn’t even gone through yet, but loyal IBM customers are already feeling the pain of the imminent acquisition of IBM’s x86 server line by Lenovo. Many of those IBM customers joined us at HP Discover in Las Vegas from June 10-13.  We caught up with Jim Gilliam, one of HP’s Converged Infrastructure Specialist’s, who found out that they had plenty to say about how the IBM x86 server acquisition by Lenovo is already hurting them.

Is your strategic partner committed to YOUR business?

There’s plenty of discussion about the sale of IBM’s x86 server business to Lenovo.  Many customers are in danger of losing their personal point of contact for value add solutions that they’ve relied upon for so long.

What you need is one number to call to a strategic partner that stands behind your end-to-end solution with world-class service, global reach and a proven call-to-repair commitment. And even better is a  partner who is innovating to identify and address problems before they even occur to keep your business up and running 24x365.

The future is not uncertain with HP as your strategic partner

There’s no doubt that there is change in the industry with huge exponential disruption with Cloud, Security Mobility, Big Data and other advancing technologies and it’s driving a new style of IT. New technologies are reshaping design, architecture and even supply chains. With changing delivery models and evolving customer choices as technology companies enter and exit the market while user demands escalate and need for new workloads to be supported.
