I just listened to Jeff Word (SAP) and Manoj Suvarna (HP) present a webinar on SAP HANA, Enabling Next-Generation Data Management Platforms – all Starts with HP and SAP, and I gotta say, it’s one of the best presentations I’ve heard on the subject -- EVER.  And, let me tell you, I’ve heard a lot of HANA presentations over the past couple years.

This morning my wife got an email from a retailer for a 12-hour sale that ends tonight. She jumped on the site to take a look and, within 10 minutes, half of the items vanished from the view page, meaning they were purchased and no longer available. I know about this because I was drinking coffee while she was online, and the one item she wanted was one that disappeared. I was increasingly impressed that the retailer was able to track transactions and display the correct items remaining in inventory on the website in real time for a couple of reasons.
