Key take-away's from Davos -- an HP perspective

Rachel Decker from HP's corporate communications team caught up with Tom Hogan, executive VP of global Enterprise Sales, Marketing and Strategy, to learn what he struck him most at the World Economic Forum in Davos last week.

HP joins Obama administration in fueling entrepreneurship, expands HP LIFE program to United States

Representatives from HP today celebrated the launch of The Startup America Partnership at a White House event with top officials from the Obama administration. The participants included Commerce Secretary Gary Locke, SBA Administrator Karen Mills and White House Economic Adviser Austan Goolsbee, as well as representatives from other companies. 


HP has invested more than $20 million since 2007 to fuel educational and technology outreach aimed at helping entrepreneurs and small business owners create and grow commercial opportunities. Two key programs include:


- HP Learning Initiative for Entrepreneurs (HP LIFE) ( – a global program that trains entrepreneurs and small businesses owners to develop essential IT and business skills to grow their businesses. HP is expanding HP LIFE to reach more than 100,000 aspiring entrepreneurs in the United States over the next two years. The program is a partnership with Education Development Center Inc. (EDC), a nonprofit organization focused on addressing global critical social issues, and already supports more than 500,000 entrepreneurs worldwide.


- HP Startup Central ( – an online gateway that provides startups with business opportunities including HP partner and developer programs, patents and products. HP Startup Central helps entrepreneurs connect with investors and access tools and educational resources.

The Startup America Partnership is the private sector counterpart to the Obama administration's effort to spark high-growth firms in the U.S.
